Hubris Ante Nemesis – Flash from the Eternal Semaphore

Bobblehead DollAs a kid, I read a lot of Greek and Roman Mythology.  I learned some great lessons from the fates, the fabled battles, and the historical interweaving with the fictional.  One of the lessons keeps recircling, “Those whom the gods would destroy first they make proud.”  Except, the gods/God do not make men proud; men choose pride, then comes vanity, all feeding ego, until that penultimate moment when “Hubris Ante Nemesis” occurs and the bottom is pulled out from under you.

The fates are three goddesses by the name of Clotho (the spinner), Lachesis (the allotter), and Atropos (the inflexible), possibly the children of Ananke (Necessity); these fates spun out the woven lives of men and women on the tapestry of a grand design.  Out of necessity, the fates weave, and what is woven cannot be undone.  I can understand the mental comfort people might take from thinking that these weavers hold men’s destiny; thus, all success or failure is the fault of the weavers of fate. The Fates Picture, The Fates Image

Hubris, in Greek Mythology, is the god of arrogance.  Full of wanton violence, insolence, arrogance, and who actively chooses never to exercise restraint.  Hubris remains a classic example of extremes.  Nemesis is the goddess of fate and revenge.  Roughly translating Latin Hubris brings Nemesis to balance the scales.  Nemesis is the humbler of men who Hubris have enticed into taking their lives to extremes.

In Judaism, the saying goes, “Pride goeth before the fall.”  Or put another way, “Pride goes before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall.”  In all cultures of men, this same semaphore is flashing across the minds of philosophers and religious leaders, beware the tides of extremes, choose humility, and caution against arrogance, pride, sloth, vanity, lust, gluttony, and ego.  When did we stop heeding this call?  Why have these calls been classified as religious and minimized in all societies?Nemesis | Myth Wiki | FANDOM powered by Wikia

Consider the political leaders of the day, those who think they are beyond the reach of law merely because they think they are the keystone in a democracy and deserve to live better than those who elected them to power.  Recent examples of this pride are witnessed in Speaker Pelosi’s husband making stock choices when the company is about to get a massive windfall from the US Government.  Al Gore compared climate deniers to the police in the Uvalde, Texas school shooting while jet-setting around the globe.  He is preaching moderation and reduced lifestyles while he lives in excess.  The list is never-ending, where extreme lifestyles are flashed wantonly, and suffering continues to expand exponentially.

Marie Antoinette was made famous for the starving and suffering by losing her head after supposedly claiming, “Let them eat cake.”  Hubris snuffed out by Nemesis in a well-deserved act of humiliation.  Yet, one of the things that set Greek and Roman mythology apart from Judaism and Christianity was the ability to repent, achieve forgiveness, and change one’s life being in the hands of the individual, not the destiny of the Fate’s.

Being called to repentance is primarily the realm of religious leaders, and I would not want anyone to think I am making a call for others to repent.  Not my job, no authority, no power.  Merely, I hope to help raise the perception of those suffering from the hubris of others.  I also want to improve how I live.  I am not the example to hold up to anyone, except as a warning, but I strive to improve.  The poem Invictus by William Ernest Henley rings ever truer, “I am the master of my fate: I am the captain of my soul.”Invictus Games Foundation - YouTube

Our world, right now, is suffering greatly.  Crime is skyrocketing; theft is out of control; violence, aggression, murder, rape, and so much more are occurring at levels not ever recorded and growing.  Yet, Thomas S. Monson authored a book based on a concept of power, “The future is only as bright as your faith.”  Consider this for a moment; we can have hope and happiness in whatever circumstances we face as a choice reflecting our personal religious beliefs.  Yes, the consequences of crime hurt physically, spiritually, emotionally, mentally, etc., but the hubris of others can be healed.  Victor E. Frankl’s book, “Man’s Search for Meaning,” signals the same semaphore, your choices can heal the hubristic consequences suffered, and the future is bright!

Those who have indulged in hubristic actions can find peace, joy, happiness, and forgiveness.  Those hurt by the hubris of others do not have to stay hurt, or hurt others, to find the same joy, peace, happiness, and forgiveness.  Want to know an exciting thought?  I am not preaching religion!  Your religious choices are your own, and I respect your religious preferences, provided they do not infringe upon anyone else’s rights to freedom of religion.25 Best Hope Quotes That Build Your Confidence Again - Picss Mine

I am talking about living without extremes, not religion.  How big of a house do you need?  Due to my violent sleeping and crazy sleep patterns, my wife and I sleep in different rooms.  Because I am a proud person who, after cleaning latrines and heads for the US Army and Navy, hates cleaning bathrooms, we also have separate bathrooms.  As a married couple, these changes to the “traditional” style of a man living with a woman have led us to live in a slightly larger home, but this fits our needs.  Please note that my bathroom is not a filthy mess, but it is not the surgical clean of a military bathroom either.  Nor is my bathroom one step higher in cleanliness above the military than my spouse’s.

How many cars and vehicles does a person need?  I don’t know.  I have friends who have four-wheelers, tractors, motorcycles, and a host of other vehicular conveyances.  I am not here to tell anyone how much of anything they need.  I merely postulate that you can make better choices and exercise less hubris through careful consideration and thoughtful discussion.  The same goes for food, clothing, entertainment, and every other vice humans invent to fall into.  I am not condemning anyone!  I suggest that we can live well without the extremes and expect our political leaders and bureaucrats to do similarly.

Question 3How expensive is the government because those who claim to be public servants practice hubris with our tax dollars?  How complicated a process does a government become when government becomes a jobs program instead of a government?  How big does a government become when hubris is practiced against the citizens?

As free-thinking humans, we do not need to be ruled with a brick stick to make better living choices.  We do need a moral code to live by, and how you choose your moral code is your business.  The moral code should include things like living within our means, not being violent to others, promoting good where we see it, and disdaining socially what should be kept privately, among other things.  I cannot stress this enough choosing what you believe is your business.  However, hubris hurts others to make oneself inflated, and that is everyone’s business!

Consider for a moment the store clerk who had to take a life to defend himself in a bodega in NYC.  That man will be forever haunted by the violence perpetrated upon him, leading to the perpetrator’s death.  The hubris of the attacker led to his humiliation but had consequences for society at large.  The thieves in San Francisco, Chicago, and other places do not hurt just the business and local communities, they hurt everyone in American society, and their hubris is morally, ethically, and legally wrong!Hubris Quotes. QuotesGram

The murderer’s hubris affects society just as wholly as the hubris of a political leader who lives in excess; I see no difference between the two.  Some may complain that murder and living in excess are two different moral choices, but those hurt do not differentiate the wound, so why should I?  Is not a life lost in murder?  Is not a life lost when the excesses of others lead them to use the power of government to steal, cheat, and lie in the name of government business?

Consider illegal immigration as the theft it is, and we can see how hubris negatively influences the originating country, pushing the poor out and the host country where the poor want to reside illegally.  Does this mean immigration is wrong; absolutely not!  Immigration includes assimilation, illegal immigration does not, and those practicing illegal immigration, promoting, and facilitating are all practicing hubris for personal power, wealth, and gain.  Are there those in the illegal immigration classes who are the “Sons of Mary;” indeed.  But the majority are merely perpetuating hubris with the resulting consequences in increased drug trafficking, sex trafficking, disease spread, and a host of other social ills.

I admit the murders of millions in Nazi Germany under Hitler were terrible, but how is this any different from Mao using government powers to kill millions by withholding food, clothing, and housing from those who disagreed politically, religiously, or personally?  Or any different than Xi Jinping doing similarly to the Uyghur populations?  What is different between Marie Antoinette and Marx or Stalin?  How are these actions any other than what the government has done under the excuse of Covid?  Did not millions die while political leaders lived in excess, flaunted their hubris, and stole from those who put them in power?️ Oedipus hubris. Oedipus Rex or Oedipus the King Essay. 2019-01-31

Under communism in the USSR, the people lived in abject misery, while those who considered themselves elite grew fat and lazy, all in the name of helping, providing, caring, and progress.  Communist Cuba and the disaster called Venezuela are additional examples of what occurs when hubris corrupts governments and society is left to suffer while the leaders live lives of excess.  America used to be a capitalistic country but is now a mix of socialism and communism under the guise of capitalism.  The hubristic lifestyles of those in power, their lackeys, flunkeys, and bureaucrats, are all at the taxpayers’ expense.  What is the difference between hubris in the communist USSR and America?

I am not claiming that anyone is doing anything inherently wrong.  Our choices to live an extreme lifestyle breed pride, vanity, ego, narcissism, and a host of other social ills; these social ills breed expanses to government, creating red tape, tax increases, and socialism/communism as measures to improve equality.  What happens when the hubris grows too big, war, revolutionary governments, and destruction.  The mythological Greeks would call this the coming of Nemesis to cull the acts of Hubris.  Judaism and Christianity would discuss balancing the scales of justice with mercy.  Other religions would discuss balance, choice, and compounding accountability for choices.  All truths flashed from an eternal semaphore, where man tries to explain the loss, putting morales to the stories and trying to pass along a truth grasped at, that men make choices, and when those choices include extremes, the consequence is death.

Knowledge Check! Is the future really as bright as our faith; YES!  What we choose to believe in, how we choose to exercise belief, and the need for freedom of religion to keep men on equal grounds, are all pillars to helping man live life without extremes.  Extremes breed death; living without extremes creates life; can we at least learn this lesson?  I hope so.

Stupidity or Malice?

QuestionPoliticians have a choice; as a point of fact, the answers are provided to the question; all you have to do is choose between option A: Stupidity and option B: Malice.  Consider the questions facing you, dear reader.  How do I pay for fuel to get to work and back?  How do I pay for food?  How do I afford to pay my tax bill?  How do I make my bills this month since the prices of everything have skyrocketed?

With the US President, his staff, and his executive office vassals, flunkeys, and lackeys, all spouting lies, hyperbole, and horse manure, we must have these people choose their answer to the question, “Why are you creating these problems?”  The answer is either “I am stupid,” willfully making decisions through ignorance, which would mean they are woefully unqualified for the jobs they hold and need immediate replacement.  Or, the answer is, “I am full of malice, contempt, and possess an utter disregard for the pain and suffering I am causing,” which would mean they need to be charged, arrested, and held over in prison until their day in front of a judge.

There is no third option anymore.  From the mayor’s office to the president’s office, the politicians have decided they have rights, liberties, and powers that we, the voters, never gave them.  Under the US Constitution, we are the final arbiter of the politicians’ powers and authorities.  Thank whatever gods may be for the US Constitution, for without the US Constitution and various state constitutions, we would be in a spot worse than Canada!Canada Cuba Crossed Pin | Crossed Flag Pin | Friendship Pin

Speaking of Canada for a minute, do you remember the #FreedomConvoy from February?  You know, those hard-working truck drivers hailed as hero’s only as long as they toed Trudeau’s line.  The same truckers he arbitrarily threw in jail stole their money, ruining businesses and people using the law meant for terrorism against law-abiding citizens who were fit to be tied with the COVID-hysteria and COVID-Kabuki.  Canada is headed for living conditions and lifestyles more akin to Venezuela and Cuba than a first-world nation, all because their laws do not have a legal system in place for recalling a prime minister.  Tell me again how bad it is to live in the United States, the globe’s only constitutional republic.

Let’s ask Putin, and for the fun of it, Zelensky, was it stupidity or malice that began this Ukraine crisis?  What was Ukraine doing investing so much money in Biden’s family through Hunter?  How’s that investment working out for you?  Putin, with your entire economy in ruins, how’s that invasion working out for you?

Speaking of Putin, Biden, Pelosi, Clinton, and many others raises an interesting thought.  You all appear rich enough; have you forgotten that wealth is transitory, ephemeral, and quickly lost out of stupidity or malice?  I am betting it was stupidity!  No one maliciously acts in a way to chop off their legs, arms, and hands to spite the body’s need for these appendages.  This is precisely what you have done in denigrating, deriding, and abusing those who originally put you in power, allowing you to accumulate the riches you have.

Apparently, Putin forgot the lessons of the Czar’s that led to the birth and eventual death of the USSR.  Talk about history repeating itself!  The same reasons that killed the reign of the Czar and the USSR are the same that is threatening Russia right now.  Stupidity or malice!  America, will you please wake up to the problem you are facing?  The stupidity or malice in your political leaders is causing pain, suffering, and real-world ramifications for every single country on Earth!

Don’t take my word for it.  Do some research and look at how inflation in America is killing economies across Africa and Asia.  Do some research and look at the instability of the US Dollar as the world’s currency and see how this is destroying people’s dreams the world over.  Do a little research and look at how the US Dollar not being the currency for oil and gold will affect, and essentially destroy, these tradeable goods for the benefit of tyrants, thugs, and criminal organizations.  Would you like to know what having China’s Yuan or Renminbi as the currency for gold or oil look no further than the wasted lands of northern Mexico?  The gangs and criminal organizations have “disappeared” (murdered, killed, destroyed) hundreds of thousands of people, the majority of whom are innocent bystanders.215 bodies found in Mexico mass graves-488829

I heard an estimate of how many people have been disappeared by the cartel in northern Mexico; the number was based on how many mass graves have been found, how many there might be that need-finding, and the growing number of people per mass grave.  The numbers bandied are horrifying, but the numbers are barely even a hundredth part of the pain, suffering, and cost of America’s illegal alien and drug problem.  Then consider how Biden’s lackeys have been using the dead of night, the power of bureaucratic inertia, and a complicit media to hide how many aliens have been transported from the border and infiltrated into America’s communities.  Stupidity or malice never seems to stretch far enough on this single issue, especially when we add the prevalent human smuggling, the indentured servitude and slavery, the child abuse, and so much more into the equation.

Stupidity, willful or not, and malice are the terms we need to use.  Consider the wisdom of Cipolla, who wrote the “5-Rules of Stupidity.”  “Some stupid people usually cause only limited damages, but there’re others that cause terrible damage, not just to one or two individuals, but to communities or entire societies.  The ability of a stupid person to hurt others depends on the […] position of power or authority he occupies in the society.”  Clearly, we need to revisit the words of this Italian economist, for there are some truly stupid people in power.  If interested, Carlo M. Cipolla wrote “The Basic Laws of Human Stupidity,” available in hardcover and Kindle from Amazon.

When I first read the works of Cipolla, I thought the following was merely restating the obvious.  “There are people who, with their unlikely actions, not only cause harm to other people but also to themselves.  These people belong to the superstupid genre.”  However, after experiencing the Biden administration, I fully appreciate a real need for superstupid people to possess their own genre.  Consider for a moment, Biden has spent his entire life in the political arena, he has failed due to his own duplicity and plagiarism to win the presidency, and the president he served under as vice president said he was inadequate to the office of president.  Should we not have placed him in his own genre of superstupid?

Knowledge Check!Nick Diamos is quoted as saying, “Never attribute to malice what can be adequately explained by stupidity.”  Eric Hoffer is quoted as saying, “There is probably an element of malice in our readiness to overestimate people – we are, as it were, laying up for ourselves the pleasure of later cutting them down to size.”  When applied as operational principles to the political class currently in power, I cannot decide which might be more correct.  I do know that the politicians need to answer the question posed so we, the citizenry, can answer the questions we face.

Plastic Words – The Tool of Tyrants and Authoritarians

Detective 4Consider with me the actions of Fauci and the liquid definitions of “Gain of Function” research.  Before Fauci started getting hammered by Senator Rand Paul for funding “Gain of Function” research, the National Institutes of Health (NIH) changed the definition to protect Fauci from the crime of “lying to Congress.”  Consider the other lies, language tricks, and tyrannical actions of Fauci throughout COVID from Feb 2020 to the present (Feb 2022).  Fauci regularly claims he is “consistent” in his approach, even when claiming he lies with noble purposes.

Quoting Uwe Poerksen (1995, p. 6), “… words, they sometimes appear to be a skeleton that displays the structure of the world more clearly than a full ideological presentation. … Words are channels that run ahead of history… they should be questioned constantly.”  Consider this for a moment.  Think of the skeleton, the bone structures that form the fundamental structure of a body.  Words akin to the skeleton or frame allow the ability to communicate an idea, creating the substance of that idea for others to consider.

However, words by themselves, like a rib, an ulna, a hip bone, are merely a structure in a greater body.  Words need the sentence structure to be appropriately organized to communicate with another person adequately.  Why should words be questioned constantly?  Because the use of a word is intentional by those speaking, and if the person speaking is attempting to control others through subterfuge, they will intentionally employ language that sounds nice while hiding their agenda.

Angry Wet ChickenCanada Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is employing these exact tactics right now in Ottawa, where the #FreedomConvoy is concerned.  Listen carefully to the words and tone used.  Someone in the media should have asked about the prime minister’s intent when calling peaceful protestors racists, fascists, and other derogatory terms.  Merely uttering those words should have been a warning to every Canadian citizen and media representative that the prime minister has left the reservation and needs to be questioned more thoroughly about his intentions, reasons, and legal footing for taking action and uttering the words he has used.

One example, the prime minister claimed he wanted to build trust with the Canadian People.  Still, all evidence (polls, opinions, and observations) declares the prime minister is vainly struggling to hold onto personal power, not build trust.  How is the prime minister using the terms trust, terrorist, and other words to frame his ideas to better the lives of Canadians?  Since the media is not going to call out the prime minister’s authoritarian actions and words.  In that case, those protesting in Ottawa and at key crossings across the Canadian US borders are justified in peacefully assembling and demanding the government listen and act accordingly.

Recently, in the United States, people who consider themselves to be leaders and influencers gathered and discussed the plight of democracy.  While the event was couched in friendly-sounding narratives, the actual intent of this gathering was to steal rights, liberties, and freedoms, further moving the United States of America under the heel of socialism (communism) for personal power.

?u=http3.bp.blogspot.com-CIl2VSm-mmgTZ0wMvH5UGIAAAAAAAAB20QA9_IiyVhYss1600showme_board3.jpg&f=1&nofb=1Since the fall of the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics (USSR), democracy has experienced the same fate as the term sexuality, as discussed by Uwe Poerksen (1995, p. 12).  Democracy has “made its appearance as a fixed element, which the reader cannot comprehend.”  Political Science degree holders, media representatives, and tyrannical influencers have twisted the term democracy, plasticizing the term and then stretching it until confusion reigns, chaos flourishes, and the result is theft of thought.  Unfortunately, democracy is but one of a list of thousands of terms regularly plasticized for political gain and the expansion of tyranny.

During President Trump’s run for the presidency and his tenure in the Oval Office, a mental disease was passed around called “Trump Derangement Syndrome,” plasticizing a word while trying to describe the phenomenon of the term “disease” for political gain.  Yet, what did we witness then, which continues today, people choosing to blame President Trump for everything wrong when personal responsibility and confusion of vernacular are central to the problems experienced.Mediocrity Joke

Governor Jerry Brown, California, 1975-1983, in praising Uwe Poerksen’s book, made the following statement.

In the spirit of George Orwell, Poerksen lays bare the tyranny of the small number of words such as ‘development,’ ‘information,’ and ‘strategic plans,’ that now corrupt official thinking and even invade our very consciousness.  His treatment of ‘plastics words’ is careful and chilling.  Study it and wake up.”

George Orwell’s book “1984” sits beside my copy of Uwe Poerksen’s book, “Plastic Words: The Tyranny of a Modular Language,” for a reason.  These books speak to the problem every citizen faces in representative governments, and modular language is the tool used to steal our governments, rights, liberties, and freedoms.  If we do not, in Gov. Brown’s words, “Wake Up!” [emphasis mine] we will lose our governments, our voices, and our children will have to fight for that which we gave away.

Exclamation MarkConsider the following from Uwe Poerksen (1995, p 88-89), where the author speaks of experts acting as functionaries who shape reality through their words.  Compare this to Biden, Trudeau, or any number of other politicians, media talking heads, and so-called “influencers,” and a cold shiver should creep up your spine.

The Expert

    • Silences anyone and everyone who disagrees with them
    • Reforms the everyday world using concepts and vocabulary of the scientific world inappropriately
    • Employs language with a wide radius of application
    • Displaces words from a common understanding
    • Speech is poor in content
    • Speech reduces diversity to a common denominator
    • Disembodies history from the context
    • Transforms words into a social laboratory for experimentation
    • Dispensing truth and moral right and wrong for progressive, backward, regressive, etc.
    • Consistently appearing on the side of enlightenment
    • Claims expertness and employs other experts to pompously fill the social function they supply as more important than everyone and every other problem and issue
    • Calling upon other experts to raise individual prestige
    • Awakens limitless needs
    • Institutionalizes themselves interjecting their expertise into every problem
    • Creates compound words as flexible instruments to manufacture new reality models
    • Castigates history as useless, impertinent, and useless in the present tense
    • Claims international appeal and anyone denying is considered out-of-date and out-of-touch
    • Their positions are always new
    • Their language lacks individual voice

Knowledge Check! The list above is not directly quoted but summated.  I am in no way an expert, and Uwe Poerksen wields language like a surgeon wields a scalpel, with precision and exactness.  I admit that my biases and understanding could vary wildly from the author in summating the list above.  I have included this list precisely because it forms a framework for judging for yourselves the media, politicians, lawyers, and others who consider themselves an expert.  My intent is to help you become more aware, awake, and knowledgeable of what is happening, empowering you to judge for yourself who is influencing you through words.

What you do with this information is your choice.  If I have awakened you to the danger around you and me through these abusers, tyrants, and authoritarians, I have done my job.  We, the owners of representative governments, must awake to how and where we are being abused to begin the laborious process of ending the abuse and taking back the reigns of the government.  The first step in recovering from an addiction is to admit we have a problem.  Waking up to the reality there is a problem is a job every citizen of a representative government must make for themselves.Theres more

What will you do now?  I refuse to be a victim of abuse!

Dollars and Sense – Inflationary Spending and Fiscal Insanity

Bobblehead DollThese articles have discussed money, monetary policy, fiscal sanity, and government spending several times this year.  Some have called me alarmist for raising fiscal sanity during a “Global Health Crisis.”  While COVID-19 (Sars-COV-2) is undoubtedly a viral disease with a 98%+ survival rate, I cannot in good conscience call this a “Global Health Crisis.”  The pandemic declaration was a political move, the mask mandating, business closures, and every other hysterical move have been carefully formulated to present a problem where none exists.  Has Sars-COV-2 mutated; absolutely, but the emotional hysteria has mutated far faster.

Dollars and SenseApathy

When you pass paper to a store clerk, are you spending money; no, you are spending confidence.  Your confidence in the dollar’s strength, as represented by a check, cash, money order, credit card, etc., is what is being spent.  Why was the Great Depression so lasting and detrimental; a lack of confidence in the US Dollar.  People who saved their money formed sane fiscal policies personally and acted logically lost their confidence in the US Dollar, and the dollar went into a great depression.

Since President Clinton, the US Government has been on a drunken spending spree and does not appear to be stopping unless the citizens demand they cease and desist!  What does this mean for you and me; everything costs more for two reasons inflation and interest.  When the government prints money, too much money increases prices, and too few goods chase too much money, resulting in people suffering.  When the government borrows money, the interest must be serviced; the interest will increase prices and usually absorb some of the extra capital on the market to bring down inflation.Lemmings 2

Except, Quantitative Easing (QE) is hindering the absorption of money on the market.  Hence America is witnessing something truly remarkable for the first time in financial history, the debt (principal), the interest, and the extra capital, all of these storms are combining into a major conflagration economically speaking.  Usually, at this point, a country begins to look for a place to go to war, which explains China and its expansionist policies in Southeast Asia and the Pacific Ocean.  Too much debt, too much interest, a military needing worked, and assets need to be stolen from other countries.  Typical historical thinking, war truly is grand larceny on a massive scale!

Where are America and China headed; let’s ask Czarist Russia, USSR, Nazi Germany, East Germany, China, North Korea, Italy, Venezuela, Greece, France, and who knows how many other economically unstable countries historically and presently.  Going to war will not solve this economic crisis, though some may try that solution.  The only solution worth advancing at this critical juncture economically is reducing the size of government, placing a firm halt on all government spending, and refusing the politicians to get into debt for at least two decades!  Yes, this means changing Social Security, Welfare, Medicaid and Medicare, and every other government benefit program to fit a reduced budget and smaller government model.  Failure to tighten belts for the next two decades will bankrupt America, and most of the world, making the Great Depression look like a summer picnic.Lemmings 4

Gold and Oil, real estate, Gross Domestic Products (the goods manufactured in America for sale), trade, all of these wealth tools and more cannot support the debt incurred, the money printed, nor the size of the government from the city and county to the White House.  As this trend continues, Wall Street will continue to be tumultuous, at best, and the confidence in the US Dollar will continue to slide.  But, as the dollar slides, which global currency will begin to take up the slack?

The Euro has discredited itself and is not worth the paper it is printed on.  China thinks they will step into the void and take up the slack with the Yuan, except their financial situation is almost as bad as Venezuela’s and Cuba’s, but their size and government type keep this hidden from the public.  Even though the Yuan is in junk status, the Communist government hides these facts; the truth is leaking out in higher trade tariffs and other global trade and finance costs.  Russia’s economic situation still has not stabilized with the fall of the USSR and will probably need another two to three decades until it can compete on the global economy again.Gravy Train 2

I heard a postulation that the Arabian Oil Rich nations of the Middle East would produce an OPEC-backed currency if the US Dollar fails.  I highly doubt this as a solution, but the potential is there.  Another person claimed the lack of confidence in the US Dollar would lead to the World Bank/International Monetary Fund (IMF) issuing currency for the world; boy, would that be a significant problem!  Yet, the American Dollar is being purposefully destroyed by the current crop of politicians, and nobody is standing up and declaring ENOUGH!

Inflation

The US Government, and many others globally, have increased their drunken spending since Jan/Feb 2020 to incredibly extensive levels and used a “Global Health Crisis” as the excuse.  Except when Ebola was sweeping the world, we did not have this level of insane spending and government intrusion.  Ebola is far deadlier, easier to spread, and yet the Ebola disaster is barely remembered.  Bird Flu, Swine Flu, SARS, MERS, all these viruses have had their time in the media hysterical spotlight, every single one of them is deadlier than Sars-COV-2, easier to spread, and they were never a cause for a global pandemic.Gravy Train

Inflation is caused by poor economic policy, where the government grants itself the ability to print money.  Inflation is not just money and monetary policy; inflation is also confidence, faith, and trust.  Inflation is how the government acts, thinks, and behaves.  Inflation is as real as COVID-19 and just as deadly as Ebola while being more problematic for everyone.  From Dec 2020 to the end of July 2021, inflation has increased the price of goods and services by 3.8%, seasonally adjusted, or 5.4% non-seasonally adjusted, which means that prices go up as a seasonal adjustment in the summer.

Fiscal Insanity

Consider with me an analogy; you live in a community of houses and pay a Homeowners Association (HOA) Fee.  Your neighbor has decided they can write checks on your checking account, and the HOA has granted them legal protection to write checks on your bank accounts.  Because your neighbor has legal protection, you sell off assets to provide the funds for your neighbor.  You sell to other neighbors letters of credit that you promise to pay interest on, provided your other neighbors hold those letters of credit for specific amounts of time.  Except, your neighbors stop buying those letters of credit over time because they do not like how your neighbor keeps writing checks and spending your money.  How do you keep this house of cards from blowing over and losing everything?

Tax BurdenAmerica is in this position right now!  Trend lines show a steady downward trend in the value of the US Dollar.  Inflation will keep increasing prices as too much money is chasing too few products on the market.  Debt needs to be serviced and interest paid.  But, when the interest payment is the only thing being paid, and the principal will also need to be serviced, where and how does the principal get serviced when the interest is absorbing all the monthly payments?  Simple economics, money once created and put into the money market, cannot just be absorbed or disappeared.  Just like food doesn’t disappear once consumed, the offal must come out and be handled responsibly.  Well, the dollar is in an offal position and needs responsibly handled!

NO MORE BS: The Captivity of our Fathers: A Paradigm for Freedom!

Note: Today, I am revisiting a previous topic in an effort to improve base knowledge on key principles to freedom.

RememberTo remember is to do something necessary or advisable, which brings honor to the past and freedom to the present.  Remembering is the power to become aware that you are more than the singular person and many others have held a hand in making you, your personality, strengths, and weaknesses.  A greeting card reads, “I am a strong person because a strong person raised me.”  Remembering is also the power that propels the person from their starting point into a glorious future.  Ralph Marston has the last word on remembering, “Remember why you started, remember where you are headed, think how great it will be to get there, and keep going.”

The Church of JESUS CHRIST of Latter-Day Saints, revers as scripture “The Book of Mormon: Another Testament of Jesus Christ,” in which the reader is encouraged to “Remember the captivity of your fathers” (Mosiah: 27:16; Alma: 5: 6; Alma 29:11-12; 36:2, 29).  The captivity originally spoken of was physical captivity. Where a group of people had been militarily taken over by their enemies and were in physical bondage, slaves pressed into cruel service.  But, as this theme evolves, the reader is encouraged to remember other types of captivity their fathers have been subjected to, as a means of more fully enjoying the freedoms and opportunities they possess, because of their father’s captivity and their father’s release from captivity through action.

To the person escaping Cuba as Castro came to power, the captivity of communism and the celebration of freedom in America is a tangible memory and powers many a child of Cuban heritage to act and appreciate their freedoms dearly-won through their father’s actions.  The release from concentration camp captivity powered and motivates even to this day the children and communities where freedom now rings.  The captivity of those in the USSR powers the minds and freedoms of those living in Russia.  Problems still exist in all these communities, but the release from captivity is worth remembering.  By remembering, honor is paid to those who suffered that captivity, by the growth and development of those present and into the future by actions made today.

CaptivityCaptivity comes in many shapes, by many names, and is visible only through the suffering of those held captive.  Some captivity comes from external forces, including military conquest, law, religious beliefs, and more.  Some captivity arrives through individual choices as consequences, including sex, food, drugs (legal and illegal), alcohol, TV, Social Media, or any excessive habit-forming action.  Consider the captivity caused through debt.  For example, our children’s children’s children’s children have not been formed yet, but they are already in captivity to the National and State Debt burdens carried right now!  Is this fair to them?  We get benefits, and they get captivity, all through government refusal to act responsibly; how are those retirement benefits?

During a conversation with several older adults, I asked a question about illiteracy’s captivity.  I asked how many generations back in their families does it take to find an illiterate family member.  One fortunate person claimed it was more than 8 generations, and another said three, a couple said four, but a very elderly person in the back said 1, his parents never learned to read or write in their own native language or English.  This man is a Native American from a tribe in Northern Arizona; when I met him, he was in his late 80’s.

LiberationAs a child of 8, he was separated from his tribe, family, and the reservation he knew, loaded onto a bus, and sent to Oklahoma for a “White Man’s” education.  He spent 10-months of every year for the next 10-years going to school in Oklahoma.  During that time, he never received a single letter from his parents.  He was not allowed to speak his native language, and all native culture was forbidden.  He credits this traumatic period of his life as the crucible for all the good that has come to him through education.  His children and grandchildren all completed college, becoming engineers, lawyers, doctors, nurses, and more.  He had two great-grandchildren just entering college, and his first great-great-grandchild was soon to be delivered.  He told stories of his parents’ captivity to his children and grandchildren, and they are better people for remembering the captivity of their fathers.

On the topic of remembering his fathers’ captivity, specifically illiteracy, he remembers every day in gratitude, even though his parents’ thirst for learning meant he endured such harrowing experiences to go to school.  His fathers’ captivity drove and motivated him to ensure his progeny would not suffer the same captivity.  Who taught you to read?  Who taught them?  How has being taught to read released you from captivity of the mind, fear of the unknown, or superstition?

Tank Man - Tiananmen SquareAnother example is a similar question about our fathers’ captivity; how many generations back before your fathers never left a small land plot?  Whose only views of the world were restricted to that single plot of land due to law, debt, religion, melatonin, or some other chain.  One answered, his family had hated his grandfather for leaving a place of comfort in Scotland, for a rough life in America’s western states.  Many of his family only ever saw the titles, the land, the benefits and wanted those things.  The family desiring these things never saw the captivity, and the family remains broken and separate to this day.  Captivity of appetite is still captivity.

What was the captivity the grandfather escaped from if he had land, titles, money, servants, etc.; freedom to grow, change, and become.  As long as his family stuck to his fathers’ same life and ways, they would have a comfortable physical life.  Herein lay the captivity, and this gentleman tells his story as a caution about researching family history.  I have always held this story, not as a caution but as a parable regarding individual choices.  Born into freedom and plenty, but requiring ceaseless toil, members of this gentleman’s family preferred captivity and luxury to hard work and accomplishment.  Meaning that by weaponizing history, choices are made, and captivity can be lusted for, and the consequence is a lost family.

Government Largess 2I see the welfare state in America that strips pride and accomplishment and replaces it with appetite suppression, and I see millions in captivity to the government dole.  Captivity that breeds wasted and blasted lives, people who have potential are dying under government handouts, forever stuck in subsistence living and not knowing how to escape their choices’ captivity.  Where but for the work requirement for welfare assistance, that same person would know and understand different lessons and potentially choose a different path; thus, discovering that captivity is broken through work.

I see the captivity of thought, children raised in homes as rigidly controlled as Nazi Propaganda mills, controlled by the captivity of their parents’ hate and choices, and becoming leeches and vermin to America’s health.  Consider upon the state of these children and weep for their lost innocence and America’s future.  These are the children in the streets since May 2020 throwing bricks, lighting fires, attacking helpless victims, and causing such tremendous violence upon the American Soul.  Look upon these children in mental captivity and remember, “But for the grace of God go I” (John Bradford).

Other types of captivity our fathers suffered and our children are suffering include mental/physical/sexual abuse, drugs and alcohol, criminal activity, gangs, single-parenthood, the loss of the nuclear family, technology, and so much more.  Why should a person remember the captivity of their fathers?  Because by remembering, we recommit to not passing along that captivity to our children or communities.

Detective 4Recently, I was part of a discussion on technology; I mentioned captivity and technology and was mercilessly attacked for suggesting that technology is a form of captivity.  Thus, I put it to you, dear reader, is technology a form of captivity or not?  Are video games addicting and represent a form of captivity or not?  Are the needs for technology a type of captivity leading to large debts, broken families, and changes in how people think and act?

The Old Testament carries a similar theme to remembering our fathers’ captivity when Israel’s children were commanded to remember the Passover.  Yom HaShoah (יום השואה) and in English as Holocaust Remembrance Day, or Holocaust Day, is another holiday set apart for remembering the captivity of our fathers and recommitting to freedom from oppression.  Buddhism has Bodhi Day, upon which the full day is set apart for remembrance and meditation.  Catholics have All Souls’ Day as a day for remembering the past, honoring the lives of loved ones lost, and recommitting to a brighter future.

These holidays are mentioned, and more exist, to help the reader understand the importance of remembering our fathers’ captivity.  America’s fathers have fought much and bled much, suffering incredible injuries, all to make the future better.  Can we, the recipients of these sacrifices to shed captivity, do less and lose this great Republic, without suffering our fathers’ indignation in the future?

Washington at Valley ForgeConsider the frozen feet and fingers of Valley Forge; what was a little frostbite when compared with the glorious vision of freedom to the soldiers on duty there?  Consider the bloody battles of the Civil War, the fear, the anger, the soul-shattering pounding of the guns.  Both sides considered themselves correct, both sides wanted a vision of freedom, but only one side could win, and in winning bring complete freedom to all the people of America.  Consider the soldiers, sailors, airman, and marines in Afghanistan, South Korea, Africa, and every other place America sends her military might, can we sit at home comfortably and not feel gratitude for their sacrifices, the heat, and cold they suffer, the wounds, the physical and mental strain?

LinkedIn ImageRemembering is an action, a thought process with the impetus power to drive an individual’s commitment and effort.  Let us not forget our fathers’ captivity and by remembering act in a method that will secure liberty, justice, and freedom for our children’s children.  America is in danger of being lost; this great Republic, blessed with a Constitutional form of government, is in danger.  I, for one, refuse to sit idly by and lose this precious country.  I implore you to remember the captivity of your fathers and join me in voting intelligently, join me in throwing off the shackles which threaten to bind us down in captivity to communist and socialist styles of governance.  Join me in taking back America!
