83 Years – Have We Really Learned the Lessons?

Bait & SwitchMy uncle served in the US Air Force in Berlin while the Berlin wall was still standing.  My father learned German and then hosted Germans who wanted to experience America to come into our home to visit America multiple times.  Since I was a child, I remember hearing the personal stories of those who lived WWII.  As an armchair historian, WWII has captured my interests on multiple occasions due to the consequences it has had on society.  Unfortunately, no society across the globe seems to have sufficiently learned the lessons of WWII to avoid repeating history. Current events appear to be leading back to the same pressures and problems that sparked WWII.

But, you say, WWI is not breeding discontent in a manufacturing nation, who is retaliating through building militarily to conquer the world and avenge wrongs imposed by victors upon the loser.  Yet, I would point to Russia, China, and Iran and ask, are you sure?  Honestly, look at the rhetoric and the history, look at the desires of the government leaders, look to the insidious weaseling of those leaders into every facet of the world to control the leavers to make war; then ask, is a war being waged and nobody noticing?  Was not Nazi-Germany throwing a war by conquering her neighbors, and the “world powers” were busy denying what they saw with their eyes?

November marks 83 years since Kristallnacht “the night of broken glass” or “The November Pogrom,” while Nazi-Germany focused on rooting out the members of its society that were considered unworthy.  Yes, this included people of all populations found less desirable, not just the Jewish population.   Do we observe similar actions by nascent national actors today?  China has broken its word to Hong Kong and treats multiple internal populations worse than the Jews in Nazi-Germany. The world mostly remains silent and conforms to China’s pogrom.  Iran continues to practice religious discrimination against its people and act reminiscent of hellish and brutal thugs from Dante’s lowest rings.  Russia continues to treat its neighbors as pawns to be beaten and molested like an old lady with her social security check, and they are a local street gang on the streets of New York City.

Yes, I honestly wonder if the rest of the world is paying enough attention, has learned the lessons of WWII sufficiently to avoid reliving the past, and I keep rolling the dice and coming up with “snake-eyes.”  Only, WWII had several graces that modern warfare will not have.  WWII did not have missing nuclear weapons and a history of using LIC as a means of starting conflicts from safety.  WWII did not have economic and bio-war at the same levels and effectiveness we have currently.  More frightening of all, the minds of the students in school were significantly different.  More societies on the globe had strong foundations of nuclear families, which sent strong-minded people into harm’s way for their nation.

In the 83 years since Kristallnacht, the nuclear family has been eroded, corroded, and attacked mercilessly on every front by every enemy known to man.  I have relatives who talk of a matriarch or patriarch who held the family together was central to the strength of the family and led the family in gentleness and with religious faith.  All of which is almost anathema and criminal in our modern society.  A father was arrested for trying to get any acknowledgment that the school board knew his daughter was brutally raped in a school bathroom.  Mothers and fathers are labeled terrorists for asking simple questions and insisting that bureaucrats paid through forced taxation answer questions from the taxpayers footing the bills.  Unfortunately, this is but the tip of the iceberg in the fight against the nuclear family.

If asked, how many of you can name the allies from the Middle East of Nazi-Germany?  Off the top of your heads, can you recall who and why these nations aligned themselves with Hitler and Mussolini?  Since these nations were unindicted co-conspirators at the trials in Nuremberg, did the hate and reasons for joining Nazi-Germany die or thrive when Nazi-Germany fell?  If you do not know, I encourage you to do a little research.  Why, because it will make the actions of the current regimes in the Middle East make a lot more sense, more to the point, current events, allied relationships, and protagonist relationships are more easily explained and understood when you realize the perniciousness of Nazi-Germany rhetoric on the Middle Eastern nations involved.  I cannot give you what I know without unduly influencing you in a manner that I refuse; some lessons must be learned independently.

Speaking of Post-WWII nation-states, consequences of WWII, and unindicted co-conspirators, what Pacific-Asian nations signed onto the Nazi-German allied relationship that are now causing problems.  Do not say China!  At the time of WWII, China was under the iron-clad thumb of Japan, as was Korea, and the brutality is barely mentioned in history books in America.  Yet, knowing this information makes the vehemence and actions of other Asian nations make sense, even though most of these countries cleaned up their acts and denounced hatred.  More lessons not taught in American history which is truly a shame and a scandal.

Never forget, during Krystallnacht, the thugs and terrorists were neighbors, teenagers, people everyone knew and were well acquainted with, and the authorities looked upon the abuse of the innocent and did nothing!  China abuses its populations, and the United Nations heaps praise and commendations upon China.  Iran persecutes women and other people, invests heavily in terrorism across the globe, and is awarded and honored.  Russia openly invades NATO allies, and NATO decides it is not worth the “hassle” of defending a treaty.  Where are the “world leaders” in condemning this atrocious behavior and demanding these nations adhere to strict codes of behavior and right the wrongs they committed; standing by watching the world built post-WWII come apart brick by brick.

Please note, I am not war-mongering, rumor-mongering, or trying to scare anyone.  If you think I am wrong, gather your evidence, sift the data, and bring your conclusions.  I will be more than happy to discuss these issues with you.  It is not nationalistic to mention that China continues to suffer from, and likes suffering from, “Middle-Kingdom Syndrom.”  Many people smarter than I have made this connection and written eloquently upon this topic as the underpinning for the actions taken since Nixon and Clinton did what they did.  Look carefully at the events in Crimea and Ukraine, the downing of a passenger plane by a Russian surface-to-air missile, and Iran’s continued hostility.  If we do not reach the same conclusions, we will reach a lot of similarly worrisome conclusions.

QuestionHave we learned, remembered, and taught the lessons of Nazi-Germany to avoid having to repeat living those lessons?  You decide; when you decide, ask yourself why.  A friend introduced to me a lesson: I was proclaiming ignorance of a rule, for I wanted to avoid nasty consequences and thought I could escape the consequences if I could be ignorant.  My friend helped me understand, “Ignorance of the law is not an excuse.”  The lesson was painful, the consequences were not enjoyable, and I felt used and abused by the system for a long time.  Then I got mad; why didn’t anyone ever teach me the law?  Slowly, events and teachers taught me that it is my role to be the learner to teach and help others avoid the mistakes I made.  Sometimes teaching is simply bringing someone to a knowledge chasm and helping them discover they need to immerse themselves in the knowledge to begin learning.  Where WWII and the post-WWII are concerned and the consequences and the current events spawned from WWII, all I can do is bring you to the chasm and point out the path you’re going to have to walk the path of discovering knowledge yourself.  At best, I can guide and ask the question to spur interest, but the best learning and discovering you will have to do yourself, for therein you will genuinely learn the personal lesson you need.

The Problems with Global Anything

Bird of PreyJerusalem News and multiple other news organizations report that the European Union is threatening Hungary with restricting funds following Hungary’s anti-LGBTQ+ law.  From the United Nations, we find a story about how “restoring nature” is a “test for our generation,” claims the UN General Assembly President.  Protests turned violent in Nicaragua, and the United Nations “Strongly condemned the actions of the government.”

What do all these stories have in common?

QuestionThese three stories are but the tip of the iceberg in how self-appointed authorities are invading the sovereignty of a nation and demanding they fundamentally take action and change their culture to fit the demands of the global elite.  These stories are heavily biased, constantly supplanting the ideas of the populations in representative governments for the ideals of the global whoremongers, and generally tend to have no clue what is occurring in real life.  Almost a year has passed since the United Nations condemned the United States of “systemic racism and police violence.”  Does anyone else remember this incident?  If you remember this condemnation, do you remember any American Politician telling the United Nations to go pound sand and mind their own business?

Global Trade

Trade is defined as a system in which goods and services are exchanged between parties.  International trade has stringent laws regarding what, when, how, and where trading can occur.  Except if you are the People’s Republic of China (China), manipulation of currency, trade imbalances, and intellectual property theft are considered the costs of doing business. All the international governing bodies turn a blind eye.  Yet, President Trump had the diplomatic industry in America wetting themselves when he insisted that China play by the rules.  Then China plays some more bio-war games, the world economy goes into the ringer, and suddenly governments are playing nice with China again, as China’s economy comes roaring back to life.Apathy

Now, before the lace and panty brigade in the diplomatic industry becomes more agitated, the question every American should be asking themselves is this, “Do the actions of the global elites represent you?”  If not, then your representative government abuses your rights, liberties, and freedoms for personal gain, which is treason most vile!  If the actions of the global elite represent you, are these moves consistent with the laws and government of your country?  If not, then the government is still committing treason most vile.  If so, you need to ask yourself, are you personally benefiting from the government’s actions?  If so, you have been purchased using taxpayer dollars, making you the problem and an accessory to treason most vile.  If not, you are in the same boat the 99.999% of the rest of the world is in, losing freedoms and liberties for the 0.001%.

The Start of the Global Busybodies

Detective 3Marking an auspicious day in history, let us remember the 24th of October 1945, when the charter was officially signed, making the United Nations a world-spanning organization.  Since this date, the United Nations aims, and activities have expanded to make it the archetypal international body in the early 21st century. But, unfortunately, nobody is higher than the United Nations and can tell it to cease and desist.  Do you recognize this slippery slope the world was set on when the charter was ratified?

A lot of charitable organizations raise money for the United Nations and their “global outreach.”  Yet, how does the UN repay these philanthropic organizations by allowing missiles to be fired from UNRWA schools in Palestine?  Who benefited from the oil for food program that the United Nations hosted; the United Nations!  A program meant to trade oil for food left the starving still starving and the UN officials’ pockets full of food and oil, known as the largest scandal to date, where the United Nations was caught red-handed, no accountability, no responsibility, and no power able to thwart the United Nations from growing ever larger.

Detective 4In 2015, the Guardian walked a very fine line praising the United Nations while expressing deep concerns about the United Nations continuing as a bloated, expensive, and bureaucratic nightmare.  Very few modern media companies would consider doing something this important, ever.  I remember reading, as a kid, a story from either the Reader’s Digest or Newsweek about the processes of the United Nations, their lack of spines, their pompous attitudes, and their continued lack of money, all while earning phenomenal salaries! Begging the question, what do they do to earn those incredible salaries?  So why is it that businesses, when they need to make up money holes decrease staff, take pay cuts, and work harder to recover; yet, the government, and the United Nations, as a quasi-government authority, never have to follow suit?

I am not anti-global; I have severe reservations about global quasi-governmental organizations, including the World Bank and World Health Organizations.  I have serious trust issues that the World Trade Organization can ever be effective in solving trade disputes.  UNICEF should be more effective, with all the money pouring into this organization, but it remains a farrago of bureaucratic bloat!  Speaking of bureaucratic bloat, can any tell me why we have the World Trade Organization, Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development, and the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development?Plato 2

How many groups replicate another group, add more red tape, and ultimately hinder getting help to where help is needed?  Have you ever considered how many world organizations exist?  Why is the world strapped with both a United Nations and a Commonwealth of Nations?  How many of these world organizations are struggling with honesty, ethic, and moral flaws?  In reviewing the list of world organizations, I learned about some that I have never heard of before, raising all sorts of questions.  If a quasi-governmental organization can interfere with local policies and politics, then the Federal Government should be able to remove that entity from its shores.

Knowledge Check!I repeat, only for emphasis, the individual in a representative government is the most powerful force in government.  The local/county government protects citizens from state infringement.  The state protects against Federal Infringement.  The Federal protects against all bodies, foreign and domestic, sticking their noses into a private citizen’s business.  Provided the citizen is undertaking legal, ethical, and moral actions, there is no need for government intervention or intrusion.  Thus, we must ask why all the ethical and moral laws on the books for Federal and State governments can not act in a manner moral and ethical?  Why do the governments kowtow to Federal and Global official and unofficial busybodies, and refuse the citizens’ rights, liberties, and local laws for the global rule?  Mark well the 24th of October 1945, democracy died that day, more than $70 billion and more will be lost, and the media cheered!  Shame…  Shame…  SHAME!!!

The Proper and Improper Role of Government – Part 1

Several years ago, I tripped across a paperback book and felt to read the book.  It was written by Ezra Taft Benson, who was the 15th US Secretary of Agriculture, whom I respected for his keen mind; I felt compelled to read his book.  Mr. Benson, writing about the proper role of government, providing a running commentary about the founding of the United States of America, is worthy of study by every student as a part of social studies.  Before reading this book, I had not thought about the role of government, proper or improper. However, after reading this book, I came to understand why America is in such trouble and how the government is the perpetrator of the crimes against the citizen of America.

If they were missed, I have written articles about the US Constitution, the US Bill of Rights, the role of the “Rule of Law,” and other founding documents.  All these and more are essential or fundamental principles of understanding for discussing the government’s proper and improper role.  Please note, when talking about the proper and improper role of the government, I am not explicitly discussing The United States of America; but all non-Communist governments and many of the principles should be applied to communist governments to improve the situation for the citizens.

Private Property Produces Liberty and Freedom

Unfortunately, to fully appreciate all Mr. Benson is discussing, one must first understand the role of private property.  Charles Reich, an American legal and social scholar and an author while also a Professor at Yale Law School, wrote a paper every American citizen needs to read and be concerned over.  With the US Government changing the definition of private property and selecting winners and losers for government investment, the US Government radically changed and fundamentally destroyed the basic fabric of American law!  “Property is not a natural right but a deliberate construction by society. Like the Bill of Rights, property represents general, long-range protection of individual and private interests, created by the majority for the ultimate good of all” (Reich, 1964, p. 771-772)

Starting in the 1930s, during the “Great Depression,” changes were made to America’s methods of governance by the President, a willing media, including sycophants in the Senate and House, continuing a trend that began under President Woodrow Wilson (D).  Thus, establishing the Federal and State Government’s ability to rule by largess, picking winners and losers based upon obeisance to a bureaucrat’s whims, wishes, and will.  Reich lays out this history, walks the reader through the laws, and makes the case that because of democratic rule, America’s Republic has been reduced to a feudal system where the government decides who gets the largess and who does not.  With the Federal and State Governments making these decisions, businesses do not compete fairly upon their own merits but upon how much taxpayer money they can bamboozle from Uncle Sam.  Unfortunately, the entire system hinges upon reducing private property ownership and the freedoms private property allows feeding the ever-hungry beast of Government consumption.

The United States of America and every representative government can only provide freedom to their citizens if that country allows ownership of private property.  From private property principles comes every freedom and liberty enjoyed, as even the government must bow to the will of the people owning private property. So how did the government hijack your personal liberties and freedoms; well, there are a couple of wrongheaded Supreme Court cases, several Federal Court Cases, a complicit Congress with supermajorities, and a couple of presidents who were forward-looking and planning on stealing for personal gain.  The judicial interpretations opened judicial activism, released judicial restraint, and Congress stepped into the vacuum to protect itself from the people’s will.

One of the scariest ways personal freedoms have been stolen has been through owning a home but not owning the property under that home.  Homeowner’s Associations and the United Nations Agenda 21 actions have stripped personal property and made the homeowner pay ever-increasing homeowners association fees for the privilege of losing liberty and freedom.  All these actions, and many more, originated in the government actions under President Woodrow Wilson and were compounded by President Franklin D. Roosevelt.  Many will try and claim WWI and the Great Depression, and WWII triggered taking “bold action” through the legislative process.  What they mean was the Legislative Branch kowtowed to the Executive Branch, while the Judicial Branch twiddled their collective thumbs and began to legislate from the bench.  Never forget, the two presidents with the most executive orders are Wilson and Roosevelt, and this was even with a complicit media and friendly legislative branch.

Reich (1964, p. 773) implicitly details that the power to change the culture and definitions of private property and liberty started with judicial activism that led to government intrusion.  “During the first half of the twentieth century, the reformers enacted into law their conviction that private power was a chief enemy of society and individual liberty. Property was subjected to “reasonable [emphasis in original] limitations in the interests of society. The regulatory agencies, federal and state, were born of the reform. In sustaining these major inroads on private property, the Supreme Court rejected the older idea that property and liberty were one and wrote a series of classic opinions upholding the power of the people to regulate and limit private rights.”  Continuing, Reich (1964) detailed relevance and the conflict of having government contractors and bureaucrats inventing the rules to provide services or grant largess.  Concluding that “many agencies take action which is penal in all but name,” and how these penal actions are punishing the citizen through adjudication without a judge, jury, or trial.

To review, the US Government stole private property, abused the US Constitution and US Bill of Rights, and fundamentally changed America.  Private property is the source of freedom and liberty in a representative government.  By choosing to limit private property, many have never been able to possess the most basic of human rights and liberties.  Worse, the deck has been stacked to keep the average citizen from owning private property.  When the US Government used statehood to strip constitutional authority from the states to own their own land, America started a decline where private property produced liberty and freedoms.  These are crucial steps in the journey to understanding the proper and delineating the improper role of government.

Finally, Reich brings us to the summum bonum of the problem where the government, Federal and State, have been leading the citizen, the “Welfare State” as a “Right.”  Consider, “It is time to recognize that “the public interest” [emphasis in original] is all too often a reassuring platitude that covers up sharp clashes of conflicting values and hides fundamental choices. It is time to see that the “privilege” or “gratuity” concept, as applied to wealth dispensed by government, is not much different from the absolute right of ownership that private capital once invoked to justify arbitrary power over employees and the public”  (Reich, 1964, p. 787).  Who is smart enough to “know” “the public interest?”  Honestly, which political party, politician, business leader, or influencer would you select, always to know the “public interest” and work for the “common good?”

Without private property, the citizen will not find a secure place to consider how to vote and who to vote for properly. This has been designed into government to facilitate single-party rule.  I agree with Reich (1964, p. 787), “Above all, the time has come for us to remember what the framers of the Constitution knew so well-that “a power over a man’s subsistence amounts to a power over his will.” We cannot safely entrust our livelihoods and our rights to the discretion of authorities, examiners, boards of control, character committees, regents, or license commissioners. We cannot permit any official or agency to pretend to sole knowledge of the public good.”  Hence, before we can understand the government’s proper and improper roles, we must have liberty derived from private property!

NO MORE BS: Caution! Dangerous Waters Ahead!

Bird of PreyTwo events this week present a need for lovers of freedom to be very aware of what is happening in the halls of the capitols of America.  In the first event, we passed the ignominious first anniversary of the death of a criminal.  The second is the continued stress and strain to maximize what has been dubbed “The Capitol Riot.”  In both events, we see plastic words thrown about like seeds ready for planting, and we see how the media continues to fan flames of Trump Derangement Syndrome to the dismay and disaffection of all.

Frankly, I detest being reminded of George Floyd; I have had my fill of the riots, the terrorism, the media, the politics, and the defamation of the police over this incident.  Hero or criminal Derek Chauvin and his family have been sundered by overzealous media reporters.  Hero or criminal George Floyd and the arrest have been so twisted, manipulated, and politicized that the truth has become the only real casualty in this entire debacle.  Several facts remain, stuck like gum on the underside of a school desk.

      1. George Floyd had a heart condition. The severity remains wrapped in medical and legal jargon so deep it would take an army of doctors and lawyers to decipher.
      2. George Floyd had several different drugs in his system when he died, including Fentanyl. In case you have been living under a rock, Fentanyl is a powerful opioid that carries the following warning, “High risk for addiction and dependence. Can cause respiratory distress and death when taken in high doses or when combined with other substances, especially alcohol.”Thin Blue Line

Is that warning pretty clear?  Mixing Fentanyl with any other drug runs the risk of exasperating current health conditions, such as a heart condition.  Mixing Fentanyl into a drug cocktail runs the risk of a multi-drug intoxication, and as the VA has proved, multi-drug intoxication can take harmless drugs and vitamins and kill!  Fentanyl and Methamphetamines were found in George Floyd’s blood during the autopsy, producing the probability of a multi-drug intoxication.  Between the politics, the terrorists masquerading under the media’s protection as peaceful protestors, and the chutzpah of the judge, Derek Chauvin, and his family have been ostracized and attacked mercilessly.  George Floyd passed counterfeit money, had illegal drugs in his system, had a heart condition that he might or might not have been aware of, and the stress of fighting police killed George Floyd.Dont Tread On Me

The fact that the media refuses to name any of these facts announces in terms unrepentant how biased and deadly the media considers themselves to be.  The press continues to spout lies. Every time the media opens its collective mouth, the disregard for their heritage and position in this Free Republic is shunned and denied for personal gain!  The media deserves to be held complicit in lighting the fires of terrorism that so many cities have suffered.  Justice needs to be served cold and raw to the corporate media!

        1. Toxicity levels of Fentanyl depend upon body mass, amounts taken, other drugs or alcohol present, and when those drugs were consumed. The experts vociferously disagree on the toxicity levels in George Floyd’s body at the time of death.  Everything discussed in court regarding toxicity levels is hyperbole and a personal opinion from paid professional witnesses.  Do not allow the details to mask the facts, or the media will lead you around by the nose!
        2. As discussed previously, the holds the police chose were legal and acceptable until the corporate media went ballistic and needed an excuse to blame the police for the death of a man passing counterfeit money and using illicit drugs. Who when approached by police for questioning, began to fight the police.  How can a person conclude that Fentanyl was illegal?  Not a single doctor has come forward claiming they prescribed the Fentanyl for a medical condition.  How and where did George Floyd obtain the Fentanyl? Why

So, celebrate George Floyd if you choose.  That is your decision.  I support your decision to make your own choices, and may you enjoy the consequences as you prefer.  But, I weep for Derek Chauvin, who became a political sacrifice for the rabid media and politicians who needed a scapegoat.  Should George Floyd be alive today and standing trial for passing counterfeit money and possessing illegal drugs: yes, except he chose to fight the police.  George Floyd chose to place dangerous drugs in his system.  George Floyd did not care about his health before engaging with the police in combat; why should I care about George Floyd’s death?

Knowledge Check! My concerns are for the living, the innocent, and those left to clean up this mess, which has been exploited by, and exasperated by both politicians and the media to the Nth degree.  I am not indifferent to the suffering of George Floyd’s family, but wasn’t his family already suffering from his choices?  For the record, I am sorry he is dead; yet his death does not, in any way, shape, or form, justify the damage and terrorism that the United States has witnessed in his name!  I am sorry George Floyd died while in police custody, but his choices came with consequences.  Unfortunately, those consequences have now included so many others; the damage is beyond count.

Why is the George Floyd case so dangerous?

The media has taken a deplorable incident and turned it into a terrorist-feeding frenzy, where justice is robbed, mercy is denied, and innocent victims are destroyed mercilessly as “collateral damage.”  Private property destroyed!  Public property and businesses put to the torch—employees beaten to satisfy the appetite of the terrorists, all for the media to revel and parade.  Consider this pattern, for it has been being developed over incident after incident until it is a money-spinning machine.  Play the race card, use the continuously aggrieved populations in society to whip up emotions, and turn them loose for the cameras.  Then report how the problems are always someone else’s fault, and how more money needs poured into social programs, then lie and half-truth through every event to keep the machine spinning money!Plato 3

Ask the media, when will they be reporting on the criminals who looted stores before burning them to the ground?  Will these criminals get the same 24/7 media-feeding frenzy and biased judge and jury?  Will the employee victims ever see compensation and justice?

The Capitol Riot

In making the following statements, I am not in any way denigrating the losses on 9/11; nor, am I belittling the actual loss of life during the Capitol Charade being called a “Riot.”  Any time lives are lost, there should be repercussions for those taking lives, investigations, and all the facts revealed.  However, any lawmaker who attempts to equalize the 9/11 terrorist attacks with a staged riot on the Capitol is denigrating, deriding, and insulting the memories of lives lost!  Unfortunately, the politicians are trying to make political hay on the Capitol Riot, making me sick!

Plato 2I watched the capitol disturbance live and in color.  I have seen the video footage of law officers guiding people into the proper rooms. I have witnessed the debacle from end to end. While I am not an expert, the entire episode reminds me of Kabuki Theater, not a spontaneous attack on the Capitol.  While I decry the damage done, I think those attempting to steal were idiots. I fully support law and order conducting a full investigation, including where the buses came from and who bankrolled the Kabuki Theater being passed off as the Capitol Riot.

Yet, let us be clear, from the day of the Capitol Kabuki farrago to today, the politicians have continued to attempt to steal liberty and freedom, using the pattern established from 9/11 and the excuse of safety for the politicians.  Let me remind you, you serve the people; since you have chosen to live like feudal lords over the serfs, you have broken the promise and oath of your office, and you and your staff need to be fired from public service!

Knowledge Check! The Patriot Act has been the single most freedom-sucking bureaucratic life support measure, only surpassed by ObamaCare in my lifetime, coming in third to the United Nations debacle!  Enough is enough!  Hiding behind police officers while destroying America is not appreciated by those who live here, and politicians need to be held accountable with their staff.  Continue to make excuses, hide, and refuse to represent us, and the ballot box is waiting!  The media is like a snake, soon they will bite you, and I hope they bite hard; think Nagini and Mr. Weasley from the fifth Harry Potter book.

NO MORE BS: Human Rights or Human Obligations

ToolsPlease note: The following is not a philosophical debate, a legal push/pull contest, or even a religious discussion, although philosophy, law, and religion are all aspects of human rights and human obligations.  Here, the intent is to remind, encourage, and challenge individuals to focus less upon human rights laws desired and more on human obligations owed.  When we fight for human obligations, we inherently possess more human rights, liberties, and freedoms.

The famous Russian writer Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn is quoted as saying, “It is time… to defend not so much human rights as human obligations.”  The author talked about Freedom’s direction in western society, as decadence has overcome common-sense, where administrative power has reduced individual liberty, and the dual critics of parliament and the press feel warranted to oppress and oppose without restraint and knowledge.  Interestingly, the author’s comments come from 1978, in a graduation address at Harvard.

Andragogy - LEARNHuman Rights

The United Nations has defined human rights as, “Human rights are moral principles or norms that describe certain standards of human behaviour and are regularly protected in municipal and international law.”  Keep close note upon the use of law when discussing human rights. The human creator has been supplanted by a legal body that uses the law to create offenses where none existed and fight endlessly over minor items when laws are being destroyed daily.  The countries eliminating human rights laws and causing problems at the United Nations are rich in cash and hire lawyers to mistreat the law for personal gain and political points.

Detective 2Lost in the madness over human rights, the lawyers, the judges, the politicians pushing for creating new human rights, and the ever-present media influence is a simple and indisputable fact, morality cannot be legislated, nor can it be adjudicated.  Martin Luther King Jr. is but one person making this distinction throughout human history, “Morality cannot be legislated, but behavior can be regulated. Judicial decrees may not change the heart, but they can restrain the heartless.”  The principle of morality remains critical, not to human rights but to human obligations.

Some legal scholar will claim the following is oversimplified, but hear me out.  A pedophile attacks a child, exercising a moral choice; that pedophile is then arrested, convicted, and sent to prison.  The pedophile is heartless and has received punishment for a moral choice but retains the ability to make this same choice again upon completing their prison sentence.  Hence, morals cannot be legislated, but judicial action can restrain the heartless.  A lawyer, and many people in California, may claim that the pedophile is only acting out of “Love” and does not deserve such a harsh sentence because the pedophile’s moral choices are actually the pedophile’s human rights.  Forgetting the victim has the right not to be molested in the first place.  The victim has expectations of human rights not to be stolen through the exercise of the moral choices of the pedophile.

Detective 4Never forget, governments established laws and created human rights, and all government actions are always injurious!  A government never acts altruistically but always with the intent and ability to harm.  Hence, care and concern should be taken when discussing human rights, as the government is legally victimizing someone else to issue another person a “human right.”  Human rights have become disconnected from human responsibilities, morals, and a connection to a creative power greater than man.  By disconnecting human responsibilities and morals from human rights, human rights become a watchword for human control, oppression, and tyranny.  Just like the pedophile in the analogy, to have their human rights acknowledged, the victims of sexual abuse and molestation must be further abused by the government recognizing the perpetrator over the victim.

Human Obligations

Kee (2014) defined “human obligations, in contrast with human rights, are not written, and archived laws, but rather are those duties and responsibilities for which all men across the full expanse of time are obliged to fulfill.”  Keep close note upon the hinge of human obligations, morals, and morality.  Laws do not codify obligations.  Obligations are a personal choice from the options available and the resources provided.  For example, if I have money or resources to help the beggar putting up their petition, I can choose to honor a moral obligation and render aid.  If I have not the resources, I am under no obligation but still, care about those asking for help.

3-direectional-balanceNelson Mandela is quoted as claiming a man (including women) has only two obligations: One obligation is towards his family, parents, wife, and children. The second obligation is his responsibility towards his people, community, and his country.  I would venture there is a third obligation, to one’s god, gods, or God, his religion that supports the moral code selected for making life meaningful, rich, and purpose-filled.  Morality cannot be separated from obligations, and moral codes are those provided by living a religious lifestyle.  Yes; atheism is included in living a religious lifestyle; the separation is that the morals an atheist lives will change based upon who they are, what they study, and who they choose to emulate. At the same time, the morals of other more organized religionists are standardized and generally supported by membership in a community of other believers, where membership in that community of believers is a strong motivational force to act in a specific moral manner and honor moral obligations to maintain membership.

Separate and Not Equal

Essential to understanding, even though the United Nations mixes human rights and human obligations as synonymous, human rights are not human obligations!  While the United Nations does tie human obligations to morals, by equating human rights and human obligations, the United Nations attempts to muddy the conceptual difference and give verity to human rights laws where no verity is possible.

ElectionBecause man creates a government, and the government creates laws, the foundation for human law and, thus, human rights are never grounded in a moral code.  For example, the Old Testament records Moses walked down off a mountain carrying Ten Commandments.  These Ten Commandments formed Judeo-Christian Law for thousands of years and never mentioned human rights.  However, human obligations abound in the Mosaic law as duties we owe to others.  The sixth commandment is all about human obligations to honor our fathers and mothers.  However, human rights laws claim honoring thy father and thy mother is not required under the law.  Hence, human rights are not human obligations; they are separate and not equal actions, nor are the following of these separate pathways going to lead to the same destination.

Remember, laws come with lawyers; lawyers come with the power of manipulating the law for their own benefit, e.g., winning the case for the person who hired them.  Thus, caution should always be remembered when discussing human rights, as a crafty lawyer, the right judge, and the pre-selected case can create lousy case law, and chaos reigns while respecting human rights.

GavelTake any criminal case in the criminal justice system, and one will find that the human rights of the victims are not honored, respected, or even mentioned, but the criminal’s rights are always foremost in the administration of law.  Add in a media whose sole purpose is to sell advertising space to the criminal justice system’s volatile mix. You have a perverted “criminal justice system,” and human obligations to the victims are never discussed.  Take any politically charged legislation, and human rights created by lawyers and politicians are the talking points, not the human obligations, not the morality, and not the interests of Freedom and liberty.

The discussion of human rights and human obligations will continue in these articles as we move forward, but clearly appreciating the line separating human rights from human obligations is the first step to having logical conversations about the cause and effect of legislation, the injuries government have caused, and the continued injustices and moral degradation of democratic societies by people advocating for human rights.  Eleanor Roosevelt is quoted saying, “Freedom makes a huge requirement of every human being. With Freedom comes responsibility. For the person who is unwilling to grow up, the person who does not want to carry his own weight, this is a frightening prospect [emphasis mine].”

LinkedIn ImageA “Liberty FIRST Culture” must understand these basic principles, the origination of the problems, and the cause-and-effect nature of government action to begin to accept and live the required solutions.  We, the members of democratic societies worldwide, must begin to honor, respect, and live human obligations, not human rights!  We have an obligation to our families, our communities, and our god, gods, or God to live in a manner that respects our obligations owed to each other.  In many cases, I will never meet those who read these words, but I have a moral obligation to speak the truth, discuss the truth, and, if wrong to correct my thinking and writing to respect the truth.  More, I hold a human obligation to allow all to comment freely, without prejudice for my personal bias, opinions, and rights.  This is called respect and responsibility, two words that have not been adequately honored in democratic societies for an exceptionally long time!
