83 Years – Have We Really Learned the Lessons?

Bait & SwitchMy uncle served in the US Air Force in Berlin while the Berlin wall was still standing.  My father learned German and then hosted Germans who wanted to experience America to come into our home to visit America multiple times.  Since I was a child, I remember hearing the personal stories of those who lived WWII.  As an armchair historian, WWII has captured my interests on multiple occasions due to the consequences it has had on society.  Unfortunately, no society across the globe seems to have sufficiently learned the lessons of WWII to avoid repeating history. Current events appear to be leading back to the same pressures and problems that sparked WWII.

But, you say, WWI is not breeding discontent in a manufacturing nation, who is retaliating through building militarily to conquer the world and avenge wrongs imposed by victors upon the loser.  Yet, I would point to Russia, China, and Iran and ask, are you sure?  Honestly, look at the rhetoric and the history, look at the desires of the government leaders, look to the insidious weaseling of those leaders into every facet of the world to control the leavers to make war; then ask, is a war being waged and nobody noticing?  Was not Nazi-Germany throwing a war by conquering her neighbors, and the “world powers” were busy denying what they saw with their eyes?

November marks 83 years since Kristallnacht “the night of broken glass” or “The November Pogrom,” while Nazi-Germany focused on rooting out the members of its society that were considered unworthy.  Yes, this included people of all populations found less desirable, not just the Jewish population.   Do we observe similar actions by nascent national actors today?  China has broken its word to Hong Kong and treats multiple internal populations worse than the Jews in Nazi-Germany. The world mostly remains silent and conforms to China’s pogrom.  Iran continues to practice religious discrimination against its people and act reminiscent of hellish and brutal thugs from Dante’s lowest rings.  Russia continues to treat its neighbors as pawns to be beaten and molested like an old lady with her social security check, and they are a local street gang on the streets of New York City.

Yes, I honestly wonder if the rest of the world is paying enough attention, has learned the lessons of WWII sufficiently to avoid reliving the past, and I keep rolling the dice and coming up with “snake-eyes.”  Only, WWII had several graces that modern warfare will not have.  WWII did not have missing nuclear weapons and a history of using LIC as a means of starting conflicts from safety.  WWII did not have economic and bio-war at the same levels and effectiveness we have currently.  More frightening of all, the minds of the students in school were significantly different.  More societies on the globe had strong foundations of nuclear families, which sent strong-minded people into harm’s way for their nation.

In the 83 years since Kristallnacht, the nuclear family has been eroded, corroded, and attacked mercilessly on every front by every enemy known to man.  I have relatives who talk of a matriarch or patriarch who held the family together was central to the strength of the family and led the family in gentleness and with religious faith.  All of which is almost anathema and criminal in our modern society.  A father was arrested for trying to get any acknowledgment that the school board knew his daughter was brutally raped in a school bathroom.  Mothers and fathers are labeled terrorists for asking simple questions and insisting that bureaucrats paid through forced taxation answer questions from the taxpayers footing the bills.  Unfortunately, this is but the tip of the iceberg in the fight against the nuclear family.

If asked, how many of you can name the allies from the Middle East of Nazi-Germany?  Off the top of your heads, can you recall who and why these nations aligned themselves with Hitler and Mussolini?  Since these nations were unindicted co-conspirators at the trials in Nuremberg, did the hate and reasons for joining Nazi-Germany die or thrive when Nazi-Germany fell?  If you do not know, I encourage you to do a little research.  Why, because it will make the actions of the current regimes in the Middle East make a lot more sense, more to the point, current events, allied relationships, and protagonist relationships are more easily explained and understood when you realize the perniciousness of Nazi-Germany rhetoric on the Middle Eastern nations involved.  I cannot give you what I know without unduly influencing you in a manner that I refuse; some lessons must be learned independently.

Speaking of Post-WWII nation-states, consequences of WWII, and unindicted co-conspirators, what Pacific-Asian nations signed onto the Nazi-German allied relationship that are now causing problems.  Do not say China!  At the time of WWII, China was under the iron-clad thumb of Japan, as was Korea, and the brutality is barely mentioned in history books in America.  Yet, knowing this information makes the vehemence and actions of other Asian nations make sense, even though most of these countries cleaned up their acts and denounced hatred.  More lessons not taught in American history which is truly a shame and a scandal.

Never forget, during Krystallnacht, the thugs and terrorists were neighbors, teenagers, people everyone knew and were well acquainted with, and the authorities looked upon the abuse of the innocent and did nothing!  China abuses its populations, and the United Nations heaps praise and commendations upon China.  Iran persecutes women and other people, invests heavily in terrorism across the globe, and is awarded and honored.  Russia openly invades NATO allies, and NATO decides it is not worth the “hassle” of defending a treaty.  Where are the “world leaders” in condemning this atrocious behavior and demanding these nations adhere to strict codes of behavior and right the wrongs they committed; standing by watching the world built post-WWII come apart brick by brick.

Please note, I am not war-mongering, rumor-mongering, or trying to scare anyone.  If you think I am wrong, gather your evidence, sift the data, and bring your conclusions.  I will be more than happy to discuss these issues with you.  It is not nationalistic to mention that China continues to suffer from, and likes suffering from, “Middle-Kingdom Syndrom.”  Many people smarter than I have made this connection and written eloquently upon this topic as the underpinning for the actions taken since Nixon and Clinton did what they did.  Look carefully at the events in Crimea and Ukraine, the downing of a passenger plane by a Russian surface-to-air missile, and Iran’s continued hostility.  If we do not reach the same conclusions, we will reach a lot of similarly worrisome conclusions.

QuestionHave we learned, remembered, and taught the lessons of Nazi-Germany to avoid having to repeat living those lessons?  You decide; when you decide, ask yourself why.  A friend introduced to me a lesson: I was proclaiming ignorance of a rule, for I wanted to avoid nasty consequences and thought I could escape the consequences if I could be ignorant.  My friend helped me understand, “Ignorance of the law is not an excuse.”  The lesson was painful, the consequences were not enjoyable, and I felt used and abused by the system for a long time.  Then I got mad; why didn’t anyone ever teach me the law?  Slowly, events and teachers taught me that it is my role to be the learner to teach and help others avoid the mistakes I made.  Sometimes teaching is simply bringing someone to a knowledge chasm and helping them discover they need to immerse themselves in the knowledge to begin learning.  Where WWII and the post-WWII are concerned and the consequences and the current events spawned from WWII, all I can do is bring you to the chasm and point out the path you’re going to have to walk the path of discovering knowledge yourself.  At best, I can guide and ask the question to spur interest, but the best learning and discovering you will have to do yourself, for therein you will genuinely learn the personal lesson you need.

NO MORE BS: Eugenics – The Scourge of Society

Friends QuoteI have no use for the term, the methods of thinking, or the devaluation of human potential found in those professing Eugenics!  I make no excuses, broke no apologies, and suffer no eugenic fool any ground for any reason.  Frankly, I would see a full reckoning of those professors of Eugenics in a court of law, where the punishment meted out is community service in distinctive clothing, cleaning streets, pulling weeds, and scrubbing graffiti.  The professing of Eugenics where humans are concerned is a blatant lie!

H.H. Goddard (inventor of the term “moron”) used psychological testing to “prove” the feeble-mindedness of a significant number of Jews, Italians, Hungarians, Russians, and other Eastern Europeans attempting to immigrate into America in the early 1900s.  Representing the same thinking that allowed the Tuskegee Experiment upon Black people where sexually transmitted diseases were deliberately given, and medication deliberately withheld, all because a population was deemed inferior and useful only for research!  The thinking that supports Eugenics can send any number of people to Siberia to starve to death, send people into gas chambers, or mow them down in busloads with bullets, chemical weapons, or any number of vile methods culled from all of human history.

Eugenics is just a fancy word for racism, and I will tolerate no racist bigot!  Ever!

CaptivityYet, here we have, again, a crossing of “modern psychology” and the acolytes of Wundt, with K-12 government-mandated education.  All are working their poison to denigrate, deride, dismiss, and dismantle human potential by treating a child like an animal.  Using impulses and stimuli, to program behavior (brainwash) and produce through “K-12 Education,” drones and illiterate masses.  Do we understand that K-12 Education is not educating at all?  Do we see that the war for the classroom has been waged, and the casualties are smart, intelligent, and beautiful children who have been wasted, blighted, and hindered?  Why do we allow this tyranny to thrive?

Over my lifespan, I have heard, multiple times, that the Black people in America were treated horribly as slaves.  Correct, they were slaves, and slavery is horrible.  No doubt, no discussion is needed.  As is often the case, the worst treatment of Black people, as slaves, came at Black Slave owners’ hands.  But, every race coming to America has suffered the bigotry, the hatred, the stupid waste of potential through social programming, and I am sick to death of passing out excuse cards for poor behavior because someone oppressed your family in America’s history.

Theres moreThe Chinese and Japanese, including Filipinos, Koreans, Vietnamese, and other Asian ethnicities, were treated as slaves, second-and third-class citizens.  You do not see them rioting, murdering, burning, looting, and terrorizing cities because of their treatment in history.  Irish, Hungarians, Russians, Greeks, Jews, Catholics, Muslims, etc., all have periods of history where they were treated horribly, and they aren’t in the streets of America throwing a fit, starting fires, and beating their neighbors to death.  I worked for a person who came to America illegally, became a citizen, and then considered it a right to oppress his fellow illegal Mexicans through low wages, hard work, and abuse.  One day, I had that job, then the boss fired me to hire five illegal Mexicans for the wages I earned.

Do we not understand that the mother of Eugenics, Margaret Sanger, was a racist bigot who wanted to eradicate the Black Population through abortion?  Wundt, Dewey, Skinner, Pavlov, Goddard, Cattell, etc., all had similar ideas, control who was allowed to breed, to change the human genome, and eradicate “undesirable populations.”  Who is the most famous eugenicist in History; Mao, Stalin, and Hitler all compete for that title.  Still, we accept Eugenics in classroom “education” and limit potential through the labels of race, poverty, and so many other useless and denigrating titles.

What limits potential?

CourageChoice and effort!  Perception and valuation cycles where a choice is made, natural consequences occur, and the valuation of those consequences delivers to the agent the ability to continue with the original choice or choose another action with differing consequences.  Choice and consequence, effort, and time, these are what limit potential!  Poverty is a condition that can be overcome through effort!  Race has nothing to do with potential!  Our societies have been purposefully programmed to believe that the only thing that separates a successful person from an unsuccessful person is their race and their parents’ income level at birth.

I am done with this lie!  I refuse the Kool-Aid!  I abhor the preachers and acolytes of modern psychology who create limits based upon standardized tests, where the student has been refused preparation, and the score determines their entire educational experience.

Life ValuedI am a living, breathing example that poverty does not dictate potential.  I was raised in a poor and abusive family; my mother was labeled as dyslexic and a poor learner in school, which was her excuse for not achieving.  My father is brilliant as a musician, but his potential was limited to the band in school, and he never conquered his labels.  I hold a double master’s degree, graduating with 3.7+ GPA’s in both degree programs from accredited schools.  I was told my whole life college was not an option.  Shortly, I will complete my Ph.D. in Industrial and Organizational Psychology, where my dissertation is on andragogy in call centers’ corporate training.

In my professional career, I have been a sheepherder, a dairy worker, a heavy equipment machinery operator, a truck driver, HAZMAT specialist, marine engineer, firefighter, explosives expert, infantry soldier, a buyer, a contract specialist, a program manager, a project manager, and so much more.  Why; because I refuse to be classified by titles.  I have been bullied, beat up, attacked, sexually assaulted, discriminated against, and so much more.  But, I refuse to be labeled and kept down because some racist bigot, or eugenic acolyte, has decided I am less worthy than someone else!

Detective 4The scourge of society is the pernicious lies spread by modern psychologists that Eugenics is a way of life, that only the fittest can survive and mate.  People can be classified, labeled, and filed away like books in a library through controlling education.  I refute the modern psychologist’s authority to act in a manner conducive to Mao, Stalin, and Hitler in destroying another child’s life through Eugenics!  I refuse to accept any authority that would allow Eugenics to thrive one second longer as a method for classifying people and stealing their potential.

I have the scars of a life fully lived.  I have the injuries of military service to mind and body.  I bear the marks of a lot of hate.  But, I have the dignity of knowing who I am, what I stand for, and what I will and will NOT accept.  I will not accept being labeled.  I am an AMERICAN.  I believe that “A(h) ME I CAN,” because I am an American!  I am not perfect, but I do not expect perfection from anyone, only the willingness to strive for today to be better than yesterday.

LinkedIn ImageJoin Me!  Refuse the labels!  Refute the authority!  Stop the lies of Eugenics!  End this scourge of tyranny that has been laid upon our shoulders like a yoke of captivity.  We are humans, we have a soul, we have dignity, grace, mercy, and we believe in justice, truth, and moral integrity as the bulwark of one “Rule of Law.”

Word Plasticity – The Scourge of the Modern World

Non Sequitur - Plasticity of Language

Consider the following term ‘Flaccid,’ which is often mispronounced as “flassid” instead of the proper pronouncement “Flakcid” (Calvert, 2008).  Whereas, the term ‘Decimate’ does not mean extreme destruction, but the death of every tenth man and originates from Roman Military punishment (Calvert, 2008).  These are but two popular terms that are regularly plasticized in English communication through mispronunciation, lack of understanding the definition, and always with a hidden agenda.  Everywhere in all societies, and throughout all of recorded history, we find intentional misconception being passed as intellectual depth, through the plasticization of words.  Plasticization of words is nothing more than disconnecting words from standard definitions for a personal political agenda.  Many engaged in the intentional plasticization of words are “thought terrorists” who are trying to run their plan and break the mental will of people, demonizing those with knowledge of words as ignorant, and using the court of public opinion to employ emotions as a means to kill debate.

Plasticized words make the most trouble and unfortunately, public education in America does not appear to care; in fact, public educators are some of the worst abusers of words, disconnecting words from meanings to achieve an agenda, again mental terrorism.  Poerksen (1995) discusses this phenomenon in some detail, and the need to be more cognizant of the problem is but a small part of the solution.  Poerksen (1995) for example brings up the term ‘strategy’ the context might not be clear, and without specifying the intention and meaning, the audience becomes lost very quickly, but be confident they know and are doing what they understood.

Hitler’s Germany was famous for plasticizing words to make socially unacceptable actions, to be understood as acceptable with no negative consequences.  Consider how cattle cars were used in the transportation of Jewish Citizens, by plasticizing the term “cattle” the Jews could be eliminated, society could consider what they were doing as acceptable, and the political agenda of Hitler was pushed forward, because a human of different religion, handicap, and so forth has been reduced to cattle.

Poerksen (1995) is correct in labeling those who intentionally destroy language through plastic words as tyrants and their actions tyrannical.  Mao was an excellent speaker, but his methods of deceiving included making words plastic to cover abuses of people, destruction of lives, and to help his followers feel good about what they were doing.  Ex-President Obama used a TelePrompTer because extemporaneous speaking is not his forte, and because of the plastic words which were bent, twisted, and molded to deceive.  We all remember the promises of Ex-President Obama where ObamaCare is concerned.  However, what is fading from the collective public memory are the plastic expressions lauded upon Bergdahl to justify nefarious actions.  Bergdahl is but one small example of how Ex-President Obama manipulated language to hide, obfuscate, denigrate, and deride the American People.

Stretched Words

Shakespeare (2016) uses Hamlet to relate a line that applies to frequently; especially when communicating online, “… thou doth protest too much, methinks.”  Too often, those intent on misusing words are the ones protesting too much about something and now every communication, every interaction, and every person is a threat that must be lorded over by the intellect of the one protesting.  A recent example of this the world witnessed during Justice Kavanaugh’s confirmation process, where the judge’s children were physically and verbally assaulted, but a warping of legal rights and guarantees justified the assault.  A careful review of any newspaper, news broadcast, and many politicians speaking will evidence the plasticization of words to justify actions, e.g. President Clinton, “Depends on what your definition of “is” is,” words to couch a threat while seeming to be helpful and friendly, or worst of all hide abuses of others through twisted logic.  Every time words become disconnected from standard meanings, society crumbles, language becomes useless, and the consequences are multi-generational.  Exactly as what transpired in recovering Germany after Hitler’s demise.

I had the great personal pleasure of speaking to a senior from Germany who lived through Hitler’s oppression and the recovery of Germany post-WWII, and the person I spoke with affirmed the most difficult social problem was relearning words and definitions to communicate without the taint of Hitler’s Germanic Language.  Hence, we can draw several lessons from this experience, language is trained and can be retrained, relearning language is a social problem fixed through social interactions and personal knowledge, and personal responsibility and accountability remain pre-eminent in communicating correctly.  Another lesson from my experience, history repeats itself and those with dastardly designs will always corrupt language to gain the advantage, before showing their true colors.  Every single despot in recorded history has employed plastic language to lull the population into acquiescence, before demanding loyalty.

What is a person to do in these difficult times?

Words Defined

  1. Know words and their definitions. Accurately knowing and using language supports society and improves communication. Do not be afraid of dictionaries, thesauruses’, and asking for help in making sure word selection is the best it possibly can.
  2. Ask questions about words used when unsure. If you know a word’s definition and the context appears to be off, be brave, ask questions, and insist upon the other person either clarifying or using more simple language to prove their point.
  3. Stop all use of emotion in communication. The people who insist upon employing passion do so to thwart logic, stop debate, and ruin lives.  If the sender wants to use emotion, stop talking, stop listening, and let the sender belittle themselves.
  4. Speak simply. Write simply.  Language and punctuation are excellent tools to communicate, use them, not emotion, not complicated terms, and know your intent in communicating.
  5. Speak and write specifically. Pronunciation, annunciation, and clarity come with simplicity and desire to build value for others through communicating correctly.  Know the intent of your communications.  Know and understand the purpose.  Answer through the message, “What do I want the receiver to do or know?”
  6. Listen. Forget active listening; active listening is not satisfactory to the societies we currently live in.  Commit to listening reflectively, for in listening reflectively we take active listening skills and add the desire to achieve mutual understanding.  Lacking mutual understanding means communication remains unsettled and unsettled communication breeds areas to abuse words, meanings, and intentions.

Please note, this does not mean someone becomes a communication police officer or communication stormtrooper.  Fighting plastic words is all about the individuals knowing, doing, and being better as a communication sender and receiver.  Aware of the duality of the roles in communicating effectively, with a desire to be the communicator of choice others follow.  Plastic words are intentional, and the person creating plastic words knows full well their fraud and deception, e.g., Ex-Secretary of State Hillary R. Clinton.  In choosing to de-plasticize words, we choose to respect those who plasticize words but not speak with them until they become honest communicators while monitoring through listening.
