Response From the Texas Medical Board (TMB) – Insanity From Bureaucrats

?u=http3.bp.blogspot.com-CIl2VSm-mmgTZ0wMvH5UGIAAAAAAAAB20QA9_IiyVhYss1600showme_board3.jpg&f=1&nofb=127 October 2021, I complained to the Texas Medical Board (TMB) about an incident with a Texas Medical Doctor and his unethical treatment of me, the patient.  The full complaint can be reviewed here.  The file number for this action: #22-1620, and the response I received is a textbook case of bureaucratism from beginning to end, in a letter dated 02 November 2021.

  1. The author of the letter, writing on behalf of the TMB, cannot even use my appropriate title, name, and the letter dismissing my concerns is a form letter of the worst design, surpassed only by the VA whose form letters cut off almost an extra inch in the right-hand margin.
  2. An investigation into the issues with the Dr. AAMR Arif Herekar MD was not launched as the actions by the provider “do not fall below the acceptable standard of care.” The letter references “Sec. 154.058” as the legal standard.

Texas Occupations Code – OCC § 154.058. Determination of Medical Competency is a truly interesting document, designed, I can only surmise, to protect the asininity of the bureaucrats.  A point-by-point breakdown is discussed.

  • Each complaint against a physician that requires a determination of medical competency shall be reviewed initially by a board member, consultant, or employee with a medical background considered sufficient by the board.”

Nowhere in the letter does it reference an individual who reviewed my complaint.  If I read this section of the code correctly, all that has to happen is a living person check to ensure Dr. Herekar has a license to practice medicine in Texas.  Essentially, Dr. Herekar has met the basic competency for this section.  Dr. Herekar is living, paying his dues, and a living bureaucrat has assured us he is licensed properly by the State of Texas.  As a side note, do you feel better that a bureaucrat assures the general population a doctor is appropriately licensed and dues-paying; I do not!

  • If the initial review under Subsection (a) indicates that an act by a physician falls below an acceptable standard of care, the complaint shall be reviewed by an expert physician panel authorized under Section 154.056(e) consisting of physicians who practice in the same specialty as the physician who is the subject of the complaint or in another specialty that is similar to the physician’s specialty.”
  • The expert physician panel shall report in writing the panel’s determinations based on the review of the complaint under Subsection (b).  The report must specify the standard of care that applies to the facts that are the basis of the complaint and the clinical basis for the panel’s determinations, including any reliance on peer-reviewed journals, studies, or reports.”

Yet, my complaint was somehow satisfied under section (a), so sections (b) and (c) do not apply.  Leading me to wonder, but not to question enough to “file an appeal.”  What I wonder about is the professional and ethical standards allowing for a provider to lie about a patient’s actions and then dismiss that patient from receiving further care, based upon the lies generated, and dismiss the patient using Facebook instant messenger.  As the bureaucrat cannot, and will not, respect me sufficiently to explain, expound, and address me correctly, one must wonder about the rest of the State of Texas and the bureaucrats who call their actions competent.

  1. Consider with me the problems of a medical provider lying about a patient’s actions, and ask yourself, would you trust that medical provider?

The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) and the American Taxpayer is paying for me to visit a non-VA or “Community Based” provider.  That provider does not want me as a patient and makes this clear from the moment he introduces himself.  Why; possibly because I cannot wear a mask. Perhaps because the VA chooses how much that provider will be paid. Maybe because the provider simply does not want more military veterans as patients.  Fundamental core reason never provided, but the provider is at best passively hostile and willing to invest the barest of minimums in care to receive the maximum amount from the VA possible.

Because the provider must provide the VA with patient notes, the easiest way to rid himself of a military patient is to lie about that person’s conduct.  Thus, the doctor can play the victim, receive payment, and continue the veteran abuse perpetuated by the VA.  The lies of this provider are reported to the VA, and providers at the VA consider the veteran a “behavioral problem,” further reducing the quality of care.

Yet, the TMB considers the actions of this provider above the “acceptable standard of care.”  It must be a good gig to be a liar and thief in medical practice in Texas, for the bureaucrats at the TMB will protect you and assure the community that care was above the “acceptable standard.”  Tell me, TMB, what is below the acceptable standard of care?  If a medical provider can lie, cheat, and dismiss patients using unsecured methods of communication, and this is above “the acceptable standard of care,” what are actions below the “acceptable standard of care?”

Explain to the community, dear bureaucrat, how HIPAA was protected and the patient’s rights protected as part of “acceptable standards of care.”  Relate how trust in medical providers is enhanced when a medical provider can lie about a patient’s behavior, slander and ridicule that patient, causing more issues in receiving healthcare for that patient.  The Texas Medical Board is supposed to be the arbitrator and settler of problems; yet, this problem is not resolved, simply pushed on to other bureaucrats.  That is the epitome of job security for bureaucrats, not properly fulfilling your duties.cropped-bird-of-prey.jpg

I repeat, only for emphasis, “Houston, we have a problem!”  That problem is internal malfeasance and misfeasance on the part of bureaucrats.  To the Governor of Texas, to the Texas State Legislator, what are you willing to do to fix these despicable actions of useless bureaucrats?

“That’s Crazy!!!” – More Chronicles from the VA – Chapter 2

I-CareAs bad as the last several months have been, I hate adding more bad news; but the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) – Office of Inspector General (VA-OIG) keeps reporting, and I keep summating.  Due to the absolute overabundance of incredible bureaucratic insanity, today’s article format will necessarily shift to report more and comment less.  Don’t worry, I will still comment on the more egregious examples, for some of these VA-OIG reports are scarier than Joe Biden dressed as a mall Santa at a Fourth of July celebration feeling up little children!

  • 2020 Pre-award reviews of contracts totaled $81 million; guess what:
      • 24 of the 31 contracts awarded contained conflicts of interest.
      • 25 of the 31 contracts had problems with overcharges for hourly rates of services rendered.
      • 6 of the 31 price gouged Medicare.
      • 25 of the 31 contracts, if they had adequately followed the contract process, would have saved taxpayers $16 Million. – Would it shock anyone to hear this is just the “tip of the VA-OIG” report iceberg?

VA 3

  • Financial Efficiency Review of the Southeast Louisiana VAHCS in New Orleans; guess what:
      • The VAHCS in New Orleans scored 75% out of 90%. The VA does not try to get a 100% because they regularly fail financial audits as a fact.
      • Actual costs are difficult to relate in dollars and cents because the leaders intentionally hid costs from the VA-OIG, then blamed the new medical center director.
      • Avoidance costs, Purchase card abuse, prime vendor program abuse, and more were employed to avoid proper fiscal practices.
      • Audit, FAILED! No accountability, no person held responsible, and the taxpayer is left holding the bill!

VA 3

  • Followup to VAHCS Ozarks Pathology Failures From Dr. Levy Scandal; guess what:
        • Levy Scandal for those who do not remember. – Intentional misdiagnosing, VA coverup, refusal to discuss with patients affected. The report is ghastly!
        • 5% of the patients have now been contacted, and the VA-OIG considers this a “success.” I sure hope you are not part of the 24.5% patient population.
        • Here’s the rub in the 76.5% notification, “an absence of a clearly defined process for clinical providers to alert the Clinical Review Team if later changes in a patient’s health required reconsideration of institutional disclosure.” Does the VA-OIG still want to cheer about that notification rate?
        • Less than 5% of the severely sick patients have been notified of the scandal and the problems created by Dr. Levy. Is this how the VA admits culpability, waiting for the patient to pass?
        • Now, here’s the real kick to the balls; “The VA-OIG determined facility processes related to disclosure of the pathology errors and amending patients electronic health records generally met Veterans Health Administration policy requirements, but opportunities for improvement existed.” – Are you KIDDING ME?

VA 3

  • Speaking of fiscal inefficiency and audit failures. The VA continues to overspend and under-deliver on prosthetic devices, especially for shoe inserts.
        • In the fiscal year 2019, such items—artificial limbs, shoes, shoe inserts, and compression garments—accounted for about $318.8 million, or about 9 percent of prosthetic spending.
        • Oversight of prosthetic spending was ineffective, resulting in medical facilities sometimes reimbursing vendors at unreasonable rates.
        • Medical facilities spent about $10 million more than reasonable rates in the six months from October 2019 through March 2020.
        • Rates and data in databases remain unreliable, no oversight, and those in charge of oversight are missing in action. Yet, the VA continues to spend pell-mell.  Does this sound like fiscal responsibility to you?

VA 3

  • VA-OIG double-speak lives, and is blatantly observable in the following report, the “Contracting Officer Warranting Program.”
        • For those unfamiliar, a simple explanation: “A warrant gives federal contracting officers the authority to obligate taxpayer dollars. VA’s contracting officers help serve our nation’s veterans by procuring the goods and services required for their care and support.”
        • Never forget – There have been long-standing concerns (Never Resolved) with VA’s contracting officer warrant program. Since 2015, the VA Office of Inspector General (VA-OIG) has issued multiple reports [describing how] warranted contracting officers exceeded their authority and made decisions that put veterans and VA facilities, resources, and information systems at risk.
        • Never forget – The VA-OIG has documented multiple times, and the VA has never resolved, that the VA’s acquisition management has been included on the Government Accountability Office’s (GAO’s) high-risk list for fiscal impropriety and poor contractual adherence.

BUT…

        • The VA-OIG found that while VA’s contracting officer warrant program complied with Federal Acquisition Regulation requirements, opportunities exist to strengthen the program and that the VA lacked assurance that all contracting officer warrants were justified and necessary. – Essentially, this is bureaucrat double-speak for, continue to lie, cheat, steal. We like our job and want to continue, and since Congress doesn’t care, neither do we!

VA 3

  • The VHA continues to suffer from employee shortages. I have written about this shortage until I am blue in the face and my fingers ache.  I am fed up telling the VHA how to fix this problem.  If they want answers, call me!

VA 3

  • Nurse Bethann Kierczak of Southgate, Michigan, was charged with theft of government property and theft or embezzlement related to a healthcare benefit program. She allegedly stole authentic COVID-19 vaccination record cards from a VA hospital—along with vaccine lot numbers necessary to make the cards appear legitimate—and then resold those cards and information to individuals within the metro Detroit community. – Frankly, with the way the Federal Government is acting, this theft is almost understandable and acceptable.
          • No! I am not condoning an illegal action!  I am simply stating that Pelosi and her ilk do 10-times worse hourly by Congressional standards and get away with those crimes!

VA 3

  • Donald Peter Auzine of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit health care fraud. Bonnie Jean Lawless Diaz of Slidell, Louisiana, pleaded guilty to misprision (or knowing concealment) of the commission of a felony. From March 2014 through October 2016, Auzine, the marketing manager at Prime Pharmacy Solutions, defrauded TRICARE and other benefit programs. Diaz concealed the fraud by knowingly submitting compounded medications for which there was no medical necessity. Both will be sentenced on January 4, 2022.

VA 3

  • Amanda Dawn Rains of Fayetteville, Arkansas, pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit mail, wire, and healthcare fraud, obtaining federal employees’ compensation fraudulently, and paying kickbacks. Rains, a former executive with a Rogers medical supply and billing company, participated in 2013 to 2017, defrauding the US government and private insurance companies.

VA 3

  • Robert Seifert of Utica, New York, was sentenced to two years in prison for making telephonic threats to Albany Stratton VA Medical Center employees. He admitted that on January 14, 2021, he made successive calls to three separate employees and left each of them threatening voicemails in which he used demeaning and offensive language. Seifert’s threats caused the employees to fear for their safety and property. He will also serve one year of post-imprisonment supervised release.

VA 3

  • Patsy Truglia of Parkland, Florida, pleaded guilty to two counts of conspiracy to commit healthcare fraud and one count of making a false statement in a matter involving a healthcare benefit program. From January 2018 through April 2019, Truglia and other conspirators generated medically unnecessary physicians’ orders via their telemarketing operation for orthotic devices like knee, back, and wrist braces. Truglia, co-defendant Ruth Bianca Fernandez, and other conspirators caused approximately $25 million in fraudulent durable medical equipment claims to be submitted to Medicare, resulting in approximately $12 million in payments.

VA 3

  • Larry Ray Bon, 62, was sentenced to over 16 years in prison for shooting a firearm inside the West Palm Beach VA Medical Center in Florida. Bon brought the firearm to the emergency room, and after becoming frustrated with medical staff, he retrieved it from his wheelchair and fired several shots. In March 2020, he pleaded guilty to three counts of assaulting, resisting, or impeding federal employees and one count of possession of a firearm in a federal facility with the intent to commit a crime. At that time, Bon was committed to the custody of the US Attorney General for 25 years of mental health care and treatment at a suitable medical facility. However, Bon was determined to no longer need psychiatric hospitalization and was recently sentenced accordingly.

VA 3

Finally, if you want a really good reading, you can visit the VA-OIG page and see the lowlights of the VA-OIG’s reports for yourself by visiting the page here.  Excluded from this list are the usual reports of malfeasance and misfeasance captured in the comprehensive healthcare inspection (CHIp) reports, where we find the exact carbon-copied hits from report to report.  We find moral distress, problems in staffing, continued refusals by leadership to train staff, and the ever-present refusal to attend disruptive committee meetings.  Also omitted from this summation were the inspection of veteran centers and the myriad of failures, bureaucratic ineptitudes, and abysmal behaviors.  Frankly, I could not stand being depressed more by writing and analyzing another moment’s detestable and criminal behavior.Angry Grizzly Bear

What curdles the food in my stomach, this is just the VA.  What about all the other official and unofficial government agencies in the alphabet of the executive, legislative and judicial branches of what we collectively call “the government.”  To all the freedom-loving people in America, please awake and arise; we need you!

Thought and Character – A Discussion

WhyIn Proverbs, Old Testament, we find an oft-quoted aphorism, “As a man thinketh in his heart so is he.”  If we first accept this aphorism as truth, then the following from James Allen, from “As a Man Thinketh (1903)” can also be presumed truthful.  “A man is literally what he thinks, his character being the complete sum of all his thoughts.  As the plants springs from, and could not be without, the seed, so every act of a man springs from the hidden seeds of thought, and could not have appeared without them.”  Bringing into sharp reflection the connection between how a person thinks and their character.

In high school, the football and wrestling coaches played mind games to help us players think and become winners. Then, we went through drills to practice thinking and planning moves, so our most important muscle, the mind, was prepared to act when challenged physically.  Likewise, as a firefighter, I know the value of mentally walking through situations to prepare my mind and my fire teams’ minds before being challenged physically to respond to a threat or incident.

Ziggy on Political WeatherI once met a professional soccer player; we shared a bus trip from Salt Lake City to Vernal, Utah, as he traveled to catch a plane in Denver, Colorado.  While I do not envy him, his travel scheduler, we had a very interesting conversation on how thinking builds character.  Professional sports players have similar mental walk-throughs as a regular part of their daily exercises.  Here I had always been under the impression this was for non-professional sports players and was pleasantly surprised to hear his experiences.

James Allen insists that “Man is made or unmade by himself; in the armory of thought he forges the weapons by which he destroys himself; he also fashions the tools with which he builds himself heavenly mansions of joy and strength and peace.”  In the US Army, while serving as a Chaplain’s Assistant, I was wandering through the line company barracks and stumbled across a tank crew having “Sergeant’s Time” in the hallway.  There I met the most interesting character; he held a doctorate from MIT, he was utterly brilliant, and he was a specialist who drove tanks for a living.  When asked why driving tanks and not working in his field of study, he stated, “I do not like my field of study.”  Through education, this soldier had made himself tools for building a career he detested in a field he was bored with, and in seeking adventure, he joined the US Army as an enlisted man and found something he preferred.

ToolsThe tools of education became the chains of bondage and weapons that left him without passion.  His thoughts had turned his desires in his chosen field into a trap, where he thought his only way out was doing something radical and “out of character.”  Except for those who knew him, his character was always bent towards being a soldier, but he had not thought thru this character aspect himself.  His thoughts had already revealed his character, but he had not become cognizant of this aspect of himself.  How many times has this happened to you?

President Thomas S. Monson, a previous leader of The Church of JESUS CHRIST of Latter-Day Saints, was quoted as saying, “Decisions Do Determine Destiny” [emphasis in original]. Likewise, James Allen maintains, “… Man is the master of thought, the molder of character, and the maker and shaper of condition, environment, and destiny.”  Think of how vital thought is to the grand scheme of a person, and you will find the power to be and do anything!  “Man is always the master, even in his weakest and most abandoned state … [as a conscious master] man can only thus become by discovering within himself the laws of thought; which discovery is totally a matter of application, self-analysis, and experience.”  Doesn’t this assertion fill you with the hope that the chains of bondage in your mind are only there until you allow yourself to change how you think?

LaughterHow did I finally kick the cigarette habit, so the mental addiction could no longer tempt me to smoke; I change my thinking.  Instead of allowing myself to find second-hand smoke delightful, I began seeing it as something to avoid.  As I changed my thinking, my body stopped reacting in a manner to claim a need for the cigarettes.  It was not easy, but I had physically quit smoking 10-years before my mental processes, and mental addictions were finally conquered.  The power to correct my body’s behavior towards cigarettes was always mine to claim and apply, but first, I had to change how I think about cigarettes, then my mental needs changed, and then I was free of the mental addiction.  Changing thoughts and time, experience, was required, and slowly my body obeyed.

I have seen the same occur in reverse.  A female friend of mine claims she needs chocolate during her menstrual cycle to maintain mental health.  When she discovered that chocolate was the main factor in her deteriorating health and obesity, she still maintained that chocolate was healthy and blamed everything but chocolate for the problems.  When she went through menopause, she discovered that chocolate had no power over her body and was left without her mental crutch and excuses.  What could have been a life-altering discovery did not change behavior because the thoughts never changed.  I moved and lost contact before her story ended, but the failure to change thinking has always left me wondering what thoughts I need to change to avoid a similar fate.

Bait & SwitchThe New Testament records, “He that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.”  To which James Allen has added, “… for only by patience, practice, and ceaseless importunity can a man enter the Door of the Temple of Knowledge.”  I remember reading about a famous diamond mine in Africa, the largest diamond mine in the world, and how even with technology, the mining process continues to be one of patiently gathering, carefully digging, and unending repetition to haul diamonds from the dirt.  In L. Ron Hubbard’s book, “Battlefield Earth,” one finds the same pattern in digging for gold.  Patience, careful gathering, unending repetition, and still the results are teaspoons of gold for the tons of rock and dirt shifted.

The mind is the same.  Changing thoughts requires time, patience with yourself, and care in selecting new thoughts to plant.  Care in how old thoughts are removed so as not to damage those thoughts being cultivated, and unending repetition to remove the seeds of thoughts that would be the weeds in your mental garden.  But, with the pattern comes the promise; those who put forward the work will reap a garden of benefits.  What are those benefits of changing our thoughts, “As a being of power, intelligence, and love, [being the] lord [and master] of his thoughts, a man holds the key to every situation and contains within himself that transforming and regenerative agency by which he can make himself what he wills.”

Knowledge Check! What benefit could be grander, to will something into existence through the power of thought!  How amazing a world we could make when all people realize this power and claim this power by changing how we think.  There is a benefit to cause and effect; that benefit is realization, wisdom, and eventually power to will into being that which is powered by our thoughts. So choose to consider changing how you think and watch how the world shifts around you.  You can change yourself by changing your thinking!

NO MORE BS: The Ugly Face of Government Largess – The Bureaucrat!

Boris & NatashaCharles A. Reich, an American legal and social scholar and an author who was a professor at Yale Law School, in his paper “The New Property,” writes about how government largess created the bureaucrat.  The same bureaucrat who invents rules to exercise authority creates problems to stop work and generally acts like a feudal lord over the taxpayer, to pick winners and losers through government altruism, rather than specific individual bureaucrat’s magnanimity.  Well, the bureaucrat has one thing correct, their enmity is destroying America!

Calvin & Hobbes - EnmityThe bureaucrat’s mind looks for every opportunity to thwart a citizen interacting with the government, that citizens hired through the ballot box, where the bureaucrat can then pick winners and losers in receiving government largess.  Why; enmity, the state or feeling of being actively opposed or hostile to someone or something. Enmity’s legal definition describes the bureaucrat, perfectly; a feeling or condition of hostility; hatred; ill will; animosity; antagonism.

Convoluted ProcessesAmerica has a significant problem with the government. It started in the 1930s when the government took advantage of a catastrophe, which they caused through tariffs and trying to control the stock market to seize power from the citizens.  This problem has only increased over the 100-years since.  The bureaucrat that works in serving the public is an extension of the officers elected through the ballot box.  Thus, I implore; please hold those elected accountable for the drones, the power-hungry, and those who consider their work on the public’s behalf as executing government largess, responsible and, liable.

Ziggy - How Government Should Have to RunNever forget, our Constitutional Republic’s legislative branch has two jobs, write laws that are good for all, and scrutinize government.  Only those elected can positively influence the bureaucrat’s hiding in their cubicles, lording their power over citizens.  Only those elected can be held accountable and responsible for what the workers and staffs do in the name of those elected.  We, the legal citizens of America, are the government we elect, and I advocate the position that I am not a peon, serf, or “huddled mass” beholden to the government.  From the local dog catcher, school board, and judge to the President of the Republic of these United States, the government is beholden to you and me.  Those bureaucrats hiding in offices that make your life so difficult are obligated to us as well.

Non-Sequitur - GovernmentI refuse to be the property of the government, standing like Oliver Twist, begging for slop from fat and repugnant government officials.  America, we deserve a more responsive government; our Constitutional Rights declare that the power over the government is ours to hold, and the government must come to us to ask for more.  Let us use the control we have and demand accountability and responsibility from those elected.  Those elected need to require compliance and keep those working in public service accountable for the abuse and mistreatment the citizen receives at bureaucrats’ hands.

Detective 4Some have told me this is “too idealistic” that our government can never shrink and become more responsive and accountable.  I declare that position is a defeatist position, and I oppose defeatism!  How do we know something cannot be done if we do not first try?  Originally it was believed that a train track could not connect one end of America to the other, yet the train track was laid, and America prospered.  Critics have claimed space flight was too expensive for the private sector, and only the government could put people and machines into space; well, those critics were wrong again.  Defeatists have always taken paths anathema to the doers in American Society, and it is time to put the defeatists to shame again.  We, the citizens of America, can and need to retake our government, using laws and processes established to thwart the bureaucrat and remove the craven and cowardly elected officials!

Ziggy on GovernmentWe, the citizens of America, must embrace a “Liberty FIRST Culture” as a motivation to action and change the government!

NO MORE BS: State Motto’s

Life ValuedHaving traveled across the 48 continental United States and having researched Alaska and Hawaii heavily, I have realized several things about the people who live in the various states.  Pick your state, tell me if you agree or disagree in the comments.

  • Alabama – “Audemus jura nostra defendere” – “We dare to defend our rights,” also translated as “We Dare to Maintain our Rights.” Both translations are observable in the long-term residents.  Alabama’s state motto’s audacity is one to be proud of, to follow, and the people and the musical group represent this motto perfectly.  While I have many more miles to enjoy in Alabama, keep up the good work in living this motto.
  • Alaska – “North to the Future.” – The people of Alaska always seem to possess a fire of hope in their souls, and moving North to the future is a big reason for this hopefulness. Long have I desired to travel your highways and byways.  Keep up the great work!
  • Arizona – “Ditat Deus” – Translated to “Enriched by God” or more popularly “God Enriches.” Maybe it’s the sunshine, perhaps it’s the heat, but Arizonans in the major cities seem to have neglected their state motto, and hopelessness is breeding.  I have observed a mixed bag in the smaller towns where the state motto and hope appear to cross.  I tend to think it’s time to return to the roots that made this state great, “Ditat Deus!”
  • Arkansas – “Regnat populus” – Translates to “The People Rule!” Traveling through Arkansas, especially the smaller towns and cities, you see this principle in action.  I love watching “The People Rule!”  Keep up the great work.  Your strength is needed right now!
  • California – “Eureka” – Translates from Greek, not Latin, into, “I have found it!” The saying traces its origin to the gold mines that started the state.  When I traveled the coastal highway, I thought, “How did the Californians lose what they found?”  Then I traveled a few back roads and visited mountain towns, and found the state’s soul is not found along the coastal highway.  How grateful I was to see this occur.  California, especially those along the coast, needs to correct your behavior, attitudes, and positions.  For California is on the brink of destruction, suicide committed by those who have ruled you.
  • Colorado – “Nil sine numine” – Translates to “Nothing without Providence” or “Nothing without the Deity.” To all travelers to Colorado, Colorado is not Denver!  Denver is not a good, true, or even just representation of the state’s inhabitants.  Denver is a cesspool, and the rest of the state is incredible!  Why has this been allowed to occur?  Denver, why are you absent from the rest of the state?  Where is the leadership the rest of the state deserves and requires?  Frankly, Denver, you disgust me!
  • Connecticut – “Qui transtulit sustinet” – Translates to “He who transplanted sustains.” Connecticut, what happened?  Where did hope that sustained your forefathers disappear to?  Why?  I visited Connecticut two different times, and both times the population seemed to have shrunk in hope and faith, leaving a bitter people.  No judgment intended, simple observations if I am wrong, please let me know.  I miss the hope that was embedded in your state!
  • Delaware – “Liberty and Independence” – What happened? Why did your state sell itself and lose both liberty and independence?  Your state was the rallying call, but where is this rallying call now?  Where are liberty and independence in Delaware?  Doesn’t it seem weird to you that your state was founded upon liberty and independence but has grown into bondage and dependence?
  • Florida – “In GOD we Trust” – I know some of the stories for Florida changing. The import of so many different political views as people aged tore the roots out of your state, like the lost orange orchards, and the empty shell is full of bitterness and poison.  I know several of your political figures have been directly responsible for your demise.  Floridians, do you still believe?  Floridians, what are you willing to do to reverse course on the demise of your fair state?
  • Georgia – “Wisdom, Justice, Moderation” – Values to live by; values to honor; and for the most part, what I have seen of Georgia lives these principles. May you continue to strive and understand the power of this motto!
  • Hawaii – “Ua Mau ke Ea o ka ‘Āina i ka Pono” – Hawaiian Translates to, “The life of the land is perpetuated in righteousness.” I fully admit I have not had the opportunity to travel and meet the people of Hawaii.  From what I read in your newspapers, online news, and the politicians who call your state home, I deduce some significant problems and the existence of a disconnect between reality and the state motto.  I have met some great Hawaiians who have left the island for various reasons; again, no judgment, just concern for the loss and wonder about where your state goes from here.
  • Idaho – “Esto perpetua” – Translates from Latin into “Let it be perpetual.”  There is lots of good happening in Idaho, lots of change due to Californians’ movement into the smaller towns, and frankly, I worry about Idaho’s future.  So much good, so many good people, but so much change.  Fundamental, foundational, and honestly, some of the towns I have visited are unrecognizable from just a few years ago.  Change is perpetual; change is good; please remember who you are; I would hate to see Idaho lose itself and become Connecticut, or worse.
  • Illinois – “State sovereignty, National union” – I know when this motto was lost. I know the historical moment when Illinois lost its soul.  What I do not know is when the residents of Illinois will fight to get their souls back!  Illinois, you have so much potential, but the criminals and politicians, mobsters, and mafia continue to abuse you, which is unfair to you and the nation.  Illinois, I would see you regain your potential that has been stolen and squandered; as citizens of your state, what are you willing to do to fix the problems?
  • Indiana – “The crossroads of America” – Indiana, thank you for being the crossroads of America! I love the vibrancy of your state, the constant change, the beauty of your people is extraordinary.  The hope that comes from being at the crossroads infuses every moment of every decision, which is fun to observe.  Keep up the great work!
  • Iowa – “Our liberties we prize and our rights we will maintain.” – Let me tell you a secret; Iowa, I love how your State, cities, towns, and people work together. Honest, forthright, dependable, and outstanding people.  Thank you for the goodness that comes from your people and supports the good throughout America and the world.  Keep your motto firmly planted in your hearts, and your state will continue to be unique and revered across the globe!
  • Kansas – “Ad astra per aspera” – Translates from Latin as, “To the stars through difficulties.” From all I have observed, the hope grown through this motto’s realization makes strong people stronger!  I know the jokes and stories about how flat your state is, how pancakes have more geographical change than your highways, but I also know your people and praise them for their goodness.  Keep up the great work, remember your motto, and live your motto, and nothing can harm you!
  • Kentucky – Originally, “United we stand, divided we fall.” I have only known your state with this motto.  2002 brought a new motto, and I have not observed your state since.  “Deo gratiam habeamus” a Latin translation of “Let us be grateful to God.”  I wish you and your people the best.  While I like the new motto, the unity I saw in your people under the old motto was something to be respected!
  • Louisiana – “Union, justice, confidence” – Feel free to disagree and correct me, but what I have seen, parts of the state live this motto and produce incredible people. Then we have New Orleans, and I have to wonder why the disarticulation?  Please explain why Louisiana always feels disjointed, disconnected, and discombobulated, where the rest of the state is one way, but New Orleans is so different?
  • Maine – “Dirigo” – “I Direct.” Maine, I have seen you from coast to coast, from stem to stern, and many places in between.  I know your farmers and your fishers; I am a product of Belfast, graduating in Camden-Rockport, have family across the entire state, and friends where I do not have family.  Please forgive the military axiom, “Whiskey-Tango-Foxtrot?”  Your state has been bankrupted twice!  You have such incredible potential, so many hardy and good people, but you elect the worst to represent you and destroy your potential.  WHY?  Of all 50-states, your economics are in a worse mess than California, and the only reason is the politicians elected to represent you!  I weep for the loss, the waste, the poverty, and the bloody madness that sees you repeating Einstein’s definition of insanity ad nauseam ad infinitum.
  • Maryland – The State with the most mottos and one of the more lost and listless states in America. “Fatti maschi, parole femmine / Scuto bonae voluntatis coronasti nos / crescite et multiplicamini” – From Italian, the first translates as “Strong deeds, gentle words.” From Latin, the second translates as “By the shield of your goodwill you have crowned us.”  Also, from Latin, the third translates as “Grow and multiply.”  Great motto’s, one and all, but how do you stand to exist so listlessly?  I know, Washington, DC infects your state worse than any other, and this abuse is hard to bear.  I also know the crabbers, farmers, and other people in your state would love to grow and prosper.  You can be so much better; would you please begin to live your state motto’s?
  • Massachusetts – “Ense petit placidam sub libertate quietem” – Translated as, “By the sword we seek peace, but peace only under liberty.” Boston used to live this motto and was respectable.  Now, the state’s motto is only lived outside Boston!  Could someone please explain why?  Why did Bostonians sell themselves and their peace through liberty by giving up their swords?  Look, there is a lot to respect about Massachusetts; I love the food, the people, the variety, the whole state has such incredible history and potential for the future.  But, do you understand the motto of your state and why this motto is so precious?  Do you feel the power of your state motto in your daily decisions?  Do you recognize the obligations to peace and liberty through proper and judicious use of the sword?  Please wake Boston back up!  Please open your minds and hearts to this motto and rededicate yourself to this principle; it is important!
  • Michigan – You have one motto that can be read as two different directives. “Si quaeris peninsulam amoenam circumspice / Tuebor” – “If you seek a pleasant peninsula, look about you, I will defend.”  A more pleasant peninsula cannot be found in the world than Michigan.  I have been so impressed with your people, your state, and I would gladly defend your peninsula.  But, your current governor has got to go in disgrace!  Many of your politicians need removed and held accountable for their insanity and abuse.  Worse, the infection of your politicians continues to throttle your state’s potential.  I sorely wish more would take up “Tuebor” as a call to action, for then blessed change would come to your great state.  If you ever visit Lansing, just outside the city is a farm that makes the best apple/peach lattice pie, apple caramel pie, and apple/cranberry pie on Earth!  Just saying!
  • Minnesota – I love that your territorial motto has never been repealed or replaced, “Quae sursum volo videre” – “I long to see what is beyond” the imagination this motto inspires in me, on a dark night traveling from one point of your state to the other, has always made me smile. The official state motto, not that fond of honestly, “L’étoile du Nord” comes from the French and translates as “The star of the north.” Honestly, your state is a star in the North. Indeed, your state has such amazing people, the food is incredible, and I have met the salt of the Earth in your borders.  Yet, I cannot help but ask some of the same questions of you that I asked of Maine.  Why do you continue to elect rubes and fools to public office to abuse and oppress you?  Please explain this to me; your state has potential, location, power, and resources, but the politicians never direct the state or lead very well.  Why?  Not saying you haven’t had some good politicians worthy of respect and honor, but the majority just embarrass your state.
  • Mississippi – “Virtute et armis” – Latin translation, “By valor and Arms.” Never forget the power you hold by standing with your neighbors and not relying upon anyone but yourself.  I have seen your valor through the arms of your people during natural disasters, state emergencies, and in normal times as a means for growth and development.  Please, cling to and live your state motto, for your lives depend upon this motto, and you are worthy of this motto!  Keep up the good work!
  • Missouri – The “Show ME” State has a great motto, “Salus populi suprema lex esto” translated as “The Welfare of the People is the Highest Law.” I guess I have to ask, especially since I am a die-hard “Show Me” adherent, where do you live your state motto?  How do you interpret your state motto?  I have traveled your state from border to border many times; the people are amazing, the geography ever-changing and beautiful, but your leadership represents the antithesis of your state motto.  Not always, but too often, your political leadership from the school board to the governor are simply the most useless specimens it has been my displeasure to observe.  Why?  Please explain.
  • Montana – The “Big Sky State” has a motto a little more earthy, “Oro y plata,” from Spanish, “Gold and Silver.” Oh, how I love your state!  Your people are incredible examples of strength, diversity, and down-home, old-fashioned goodness.  Helena and Missoula have million-dollar views that are beyond compare 365-days a year.  The small towns have hospitality flowing out of their every action.  Never felt so at home and comfortable.  While the politicians in your state continue to disrupt and dismantle, you continue to thrive, and I respect your people’s will to thrive against all odds.  Keep up the good work.
  • Nebraska – Much respect to your state has been earned because of your state motto, “Equality before the law.” I have witnessed this motto in the people, the businesses, and the air you inhale seems to breed this motto into a person’s soul!  Keep up the excellent work, for I know there are problems, but your state is worthy of the potential, and you possess the ability to improve!
  • Nevada – “All for our country.” If you travel to Nevada, get off the highways and take the back roads, and you will find some of the best patriots in the world!  The roads might appear lonely, barren, and desperate; the people more than makeup for these road conditions.  Thank you for being such a fantastic place!
  • New Hampshire – Of all the states in my travels, New Hampshire lives this motto like no other state, “Live Free or Die.” May I beg a favor to all my New Hampshire friends, family, and neighbors?  Please live this motto more fully, more thoroughly, and let your influence be felt throughout ALL of New England!  Join Vermont and take Maine and New York to the woodshed for some corrective behavioral modification.  You are doing a good job, and it is a pleasure to witness!
  • New Jersey – The State of “Liberty and Prosperity” seems to be lacking both! New Jersey, let’s face some harsh facts, you are lost!  You have lost your liberty through public debts and your prosperity through the labor unions who have made the state practically uninhabitable!  I know New York City has been and continues to be a significant influence causing your state’s problems.  But the bi-polar politicians have done just as much damage as the New York Citizens to steal prosperity and destroy liberty.  Do you not know who you are and your proud history of accomplishments?  Did you forget who you are, how your state was made, and the definition of your state motto?
  • New Mexico – Never be fooled; New Mexico is not found in Albuquerque or Santa Fe, as much as these two cities try to hide their inadequacies, hellish intentions, and bad manners. Albuquerque and Santa Fe are not representative of New Mexico and New Mexicans! Although the evil they try to hide is representative of the state’s motto, “Crescit eundo,” for “It goes by growing,” is precisely what represents Albuquerque, and her suburbs, and Santa Fe, and her suburbs!  I love New Mexico!  Truly an enchanted land full of people deserving better than the abuse they have received at the hands of her rulers and politicians.  Her current governor is in a race to the bottom and is in a three-way tie between Newsome in California and Whitmer in Michigan!  Want a culinary delight?  Stay out of Albuquerque and Santa Fe, eat at a local mom and pop restaurant, and the food of New Mexico is revealed in all its glory!  Las Cruces is a great area; the pecan trees and other agriculture speak to the people’s hard work and dedication.  Great people of New Mexico, you deserve better; please choose your elected officials and representatives better.  Your potential will only continue to be wasted and abused until your politicians are held to task and corrected!  If you are in Albuquerque and are hungry, Monroe’s is an excellent choice, and you can get some of the best food in New Mexico style.  The Owl Café is an incredible gustatory experience.  If eating at the Owl Café, save room for the Volcano Banana Split or the New Mexico Red Shake, both are excellent!
  • New York – The State whose motto is “Excelsior!” could do with a heck of a lot more “Ever upward” movement! Everywhere I look in New York, you see the exact opposite of your moving “Ever Upward.”  From spasmodic politicians to Janus-faced labor unions to vacillating and spineless bureaucrats, the entire State of New York is in desperate straights, committing suicide with a dull knife, one stroke at a time!  Look, California is in trouble, no doubt, but why, oh why is New York competing for the bottom?  Unfunded liabilities and debt are crushing the entire state, and not a single politician wants to speak to the 800-pound gorilla in the room.  Worse, the mayor of your most populated city has murdered citizens by placing infected COVID patients into long-term care facilities.  No mention from Albany, no leadership from Albany is the standard response to every state problem.  Please explain how the state government in Albany can afford to be so disconnected from what occurs in the rest of the state!  Roads are crumbling; Albany does not care.  Crime skyrockets due to criminal injustice reforms; Albany could care less.  Towns failing; Albany wants the tax dollars and refuses common-sense approaches to aid in moving the state from a downward trend back to moving “Ever Upward!”  It is past time for Albany to wake up, put on some work boots, and start leading the State of New York!
  • North Carolina – “Esse quam videri” – “To be, rather than to seem!” North Carolina has been through some difficult times, but if your people return to this single motto, you can regain all you have lost.  Cease the fakery and “BE” what you need to become to regain your state!  I weep for the history that nefarious and petty tyrants have imposed upon you recently.  Worse, the terrorists are still among you, some even hold public office, and deep cleaning of fake people is required.  I wish you luck, for liberty and freedom will be lost if your state cannot remember your roots!
  • North Dakota – The State where Daniel Webster is quoted on the Great Seal of the State, “Liberty and union, now and forever, one and inseparable.” While the state’s coat of arms declares, “Strength from the soil.”  Both are appropriate.  I have barely traveled in your state and regret that I have not met more of your people, traveling your cities and towns and sampling the goodness in your state.  Your state is an example to the entire country, and I thank you for your hard work, dedication, and living the motto of your state.  Keep up the great work; you deserve all the success you can create!
  • Ohio – As the only state whose motto is taken directly from the Bible, “With God, all things are possible,” one might think the state would be less inclined to self-destruction. However, the state also has the following motto, “Imperium in imperio” or “An empire in an empire,” which explains a lot.  Ohioans, I have lived and traveled your state extensively, meeting you in small towns, big cities, restaurants, and other civic events, and frankly, I think your state is stable and in good condition.  Except for the labor unions and the politicians and bureaucrats!  Holy… “Whiskey-Tango-Foxtrot” Ohio, why did you sell yourself for a bowl of pottage to borrow another incident from the Bible.  I have had the most incredible privilege of sweating beside the Amish, the Mennonites, and so many more of your people working and building.  The people are fantastic in Ohio, the second friendliest state in the Union.  But you have gotten sick on the political hay fed to you, and that sickness is ruining your state!  Would someone please explain why this is acceptable to a state with such a rich history of industry, commerce, resources, and the people to put these tools into action?
  • Oklahoma – “Labor omnia vincit” translates to – “Hard work conquers all things.” A truth and a representation of a people.  Oklahoma, you have some problems, you have some issues, but after what I have observed of your people, and through living your state motto, you can conquer, and I will cheer like mad!  I wish to take your people and transplant some into Pennsylvania or New Jersey for some woodshed corrective behavior modification.  Keep up the great work!
  • Oregon – “The Union,” and “Alis volat propriis” – translated as, “The Union, she flies with her own wings.” A state motto where the leaders are wholly disconnected from their state motto and couldn’t recognize the problems if Lady Justice was beating them with her sword!  Look, when one gets out of Portland, the entire State of Oregon is 180-degrees different.  Portland did not use to be the example of supreme idiocy, asininities, and deranged behavior.  These were inflicted upon her citizens by her rulers and government representatives until Portland was lost!  What boggles my mind is why the rest of the state has allowed Portland to fester and the rest of the state decay.  I know the environmental movement in the 1980s did a number on Oregon that has never been fixed, crimes committed where justice was denied the individuals, and Mount St. Helen’s didn’t help the state at all.  Please believe me; Portland is not representative of Oregon on or off the I-5 corridor; the rest of Oregon is full of good, honest, great people.  Outside of Portland, Oregon is the third friendliest state I have had the pleasure to travel through.  I pray that Oregon’s citizens can recover Portland, even if it means woodshed corrective behavior modification for the entire city!
  • Pennsylvania – “Virtue, Liberty, and Independence,” I repeat, only for emphasis, “Whiskey-Tango-Foxtrot?” The historic land of independence depends entirely on all the wrong things, government answers, and labor union hypocrisy included!  Why did the land of virtue choose to lose virtue as a watchword for moderation and intelligent thinking supporting distinctive action?  Why is liberty so scarce in the land of liberty?  Of all the states that have thrown off their motto, refused the answer to their problems, and denied their heritage, I would never have expected Pennsylvania to make this list, but not only are you on the list, but you also lead the list!  I look at your state budget and the captivity of debt and shudder to think of the consequences coming your way.  Worse, I can find no excuses for the loss of virtue, liberty, and independence.  Sure, your politicians and labor unions helped.  Sure, the people were sold a lie and fed voraciously upon the lie.  But, there is not a single incident I can point to that would explain this destruction.  Why and how did you fall?  Please help me understand, Katrina and New Orleans are a historical point that ripped the scab off the rot in Louisiana and New Orleans.  What happened in Pennsylvania?  Why have you agreed to sleep in the filth left from the lie sold you?
  • Rhode Island – “Hope,” yes; I am an adherent, acolyte, postulant, etc., to the “Show Me” State, I live by “[Living] Free or Die,” but at the end of the day, “Hope” is my watchword. Rhode Island, why did “Hope” die in your state?  My last trip through your state was during a good economy, and things were happening, lots of good taking place, but your people were the most hopeless I had ever witnessed inside the borders of America.  Why?  Please explain to me why “Hope” is so scarce in the State of “Hope!”
  • South Carolina – “Dum spiro spero / animis opibusque parati” – Translates into, “While I breathe, I hope; prepared in minds and resources.” South Carolina, as a kid, I traveled extensively through your state.  As an adult, I have traveled not as extensively, but I can still not help but think the changes made in your state have not upheld your state’s motto.  I respect your state’s preparation for natural disasters and consider your efforts to be good.  But, the people’s minds have been forgotten, as witnessed by the terrorism of thought experienced during the summer of 2020.  Resources help in being prepared, but the minds must also be supported, instructed, and built!  Why were the minds of the people summarily discharged from the state efforts?  Of all the states in the Union, I expected South Carolina never to forget this lesson learned in the fires of the American Revolution.  Would someone please explain to me why mind preparation has been strangled, defied, and left behind?  In a case of limited resources, it is better to invest in the mind than in resources, for the mind can be stretched, and imagination can make resources.  Please, return to preparing the minds of your people.  Everyone else, understand this: South Carolinians are not stupid, ignorant, or mentally deficient; the state has simply stopped aiming for literacy, which has hurt the state’s resources and denied the heritage left them!
  • South Dakota – “Under GOD the people rule,” a sentiment worthy of such incredible people. How true this lesson remains for the rest of the country to learn.  I regret not having had the privilege of traveling more in your state, for I love what I have seen and experienced.  Your people are fantastic, and I encourage more people to participate in both North and South Dakota at your earliest opportunity.  When you see the metal T-Rex being walked by a metal man, I hope you laugh as hard as I did!  Keep up the great work, for I am very impressed!
  • Tennessee – “Agriculture and Commerce” remains a beautiful sentiment worthy of the people in Tennessee. I know Kentucky is the “Blue-Grass” state, but I find Tennessee’s agriculture to be much prettier.  Tennesseans, I implore you to return to your roots of agriculture and commerce.  Please correct your politicians and regain your competitiveness.  Your people are some of the world’s best people where ingenuity and imagination combine to create commerce.  Use this skill and develop your people.  But first, get new politicians at the city/town, county, state, and federal levels of government; these people do not represent who you truly are as a people!
  • Texas – “Friendship.” Another state motto that has been replicated perfectly upon the citizenry.  All my time in Texas has been defined by friendly people, helpful people, and people who care about their neighbors to the point of showing their care and concern as a daily part of regular action.  I regret the changes that have come, through unfriendly people to the city of Austin.  I implore the rest of Texas to rise and bring some woodshed corrective behavioral modification to Austin before the cancer of unfriendliness ruins your state!  Keep up the great work Texans, I know of no friendlier people on Earth!  Don’t forget to get your politicians back in order; they are killing your state.
  • Utah – “Industry” the perfect motto for the people of the state! Everywhere one turns in Utah, “Industry” is the watchword and the directive.  I met a man traveling through Utah, he wanted to be lazy, but when he saw how industrious all the people were, he was ashamed of himself and went back to work.  Sure, some homeless people needing to learn to be industrious, but I always had work sufficient for my needs in Utah as a person of action.  A willingness to work, and no skills, was not an affliction that kept one from working; I found trainers everywhere, provided I wanted to learn.  I know some of this is engrained from the founding of the state through the religious beliefs of the members of The Church of JESUS CHRIST of Latter-Day Saints.  Still, the heritage of industry surpasses religion’s influence, and frankly, I am always amazed to see just how much industry can accomplish in 24-hours!  Not saying there are no problems, but through living an industrious life, the troubles melt.  Keep up the great work, Utahans!
  • Vermont – Holding two state mottos, “Freedom and Unity” and “Stella quarta decima fulgeat,” the second translates from Latin as, “May the 14th star shine bright.” Ever want to know the history of something cool, look up the history behind the 14th star and Vermont.  The lesson is well worth the time.  Vermont, you are definitely worthy of both your state mottos; better still, I am anxiously awaiting the day you and New Hampshire become the central players in New England; your people and your states have waited a long time to rise.  Keep up the innovative work you do; hold your politicians more accountable, and keep the faith; your time is coming, and success is yours!
  • Virginia – With all your potential, your resources, and your people, I cannot help but claim, your state motto leaves me madder than a soaked chicken with a raging case of hemorrhoids! I know you are the only “Commonwealth” in the American Republic; I know your state has hated Texas since Texas came along.  I know your political class exemplifies perfectly the state motto, and this is flat-out disgusting!  “Sic semper tyrannis” – “Thus always to tyrants.”  Virginia, you have bullied and abused your neighbors as a tyrant, you continue to be a thorn in the side of this great Republic, and frankly, I look forward to the day your state is finally humbled.  For from the ashes of humility, I hope to see a better state rise!  I have met extraordinary people in Virginia, I have worked beside some great individuals, but all of these people were transplants, not “true Virginians.”  Honestly, General Robert E. Lee would be ashamed of the tyranny in Virginia!
  • Washington – Of all the states I have visited and lived in, Washington is the most bipolar and schizophrenic! With the motto of “Al-ki,” translated from the jargon of the Chinook Indians, it means “By and By.”  Seriously bipolar and schizophrenia are the watchwords in Washington.  If a person travels the entire length of Interstate 90, upon leaving Idaho, the homes of Boston become familiar, and then the rest of the whole United States becomes replicated in the architecture until you hit the mountains.  Drop down the mountains, and an entirely new world arrives where moss grows so thick on the roofs of houses that homeowners have to mow their roof!  SeaTac is not a good representation of the people of Washington, but schizophrenia is apparent everywhere along the I-5 Corridor from Canada to Oregon!  Some blame coffee for this psychological disease, but I assure you, you cannot blame the people on the coffee!  Great people, fantastic food, and incredible resources are throughout the entire state.  Still, the politicians, aided by Marxist labor union types, and too bloody much money, all crammed into too little space, has created a lifestyle that makes no sense and has seen people earning a million dollars a year living out of their cars, showering at the club or work, and driving home on the weekends!  Seattle, Olympia, Tacoma, you especially, and desperately need to change who you elect to public office!
  • West Virginia – “Montani semper liberi” – Latin for “Mountaineers are always free.” Damned straight and from that freedom, West Virginia threw off their chains of captivity to Virginia, and the world changed forever.  Having lived with the mountaineers, climbed the back trails of the mountains, and witnessed the mountaineers’ strength and stubbornness, I know why Virginia lost that fight!  West Virginia has been the victim of government and Virginian abuses since its inception, but always the mountaineers remain steadfast, loyal, and fierce!  Do not underestimate the women or the mountaineers’ children, for they will kick your butt like nobody else!  Keep up the efforts, West Virginia; you are truly worthy of respect and honor, and shortly your day will come.
  • Wisconsin – If ever a state could exemplify both their motto and the need for living that motto more succinctly, Wisconsin wins hands down! The official motto, “Forward!”  I have traveled and experienced Wisconsin in good times and bad, from shore to border, and from Canada to Illinois, and all I can say, keep moving Forward!  Wisconsin, you can improve, you have the tools, resources, and some of the best people fed on the most incredible foods; keep moving Forward!
  • Wyoming – “Equal Rights and Cedant arma togae.” Two distinct thoughts that merge into a single motto, that “Equal rights ‘Let weapons yield to the toga.’”  The import of this idea is that with equal rights, the weapons of the past yield improvements in society to bring out the academic, the professional, and the better human.  Keep this motto in mind, for the truth is absolute that this can occur, and Wyoming is a unique example of how the state motto is leading the mind to change.  I was so intrigued to witness this motto in action in the people who still love rodeos, western living, and rugged individualists!  Wyoming keep up the great work you are living; I loved visiting and living in your state; thank you!

Detective 4As an industrial and organizational psychologist, I study and observe people.  I look at how people interact as a social group, a society, and an organization to understand the good and ill of human relationships.  I am not perfect, and I admit I am biased to hope, even when intelligence tells me hope is gone and to give up.  I also freely admit I live by “Show ME.”  My political beliefs live in New Hampshire’s motto, “Live free or die!”  I realize that living free involves following laws.  I support the US Constitution and US Bill of Rights as the only laws we need for the Federal Government to operate smoothly where the most freedom and liberty reside in the hands of the states and the people.

I love America!  Having seen the slums of Bahrain, the poverty of people in South Korea, the incredible beauty and wonder, the problems of countries in between, and the issues in America, I would live nowhere else on Earth.  Why; because of all of the problems witnessed in my travels across America, I know that when Americans wake up, put on their work boots, and go to work with a purpose, the world changes for the better again and again.  Each state’s motto is specifically designed to describe the culture of the people living in that state.  More, each state’s motto represents America’s ideals as a patchwork quilt that is American greatness.

Lever UpHence, I urge you to learn, discover, define, describe, and live the state motto that makes you the American you desire to represent!  American, [A(h)-Me-I-Can], adapt and adopt, gather, and be defined by any state motto that inspires.  How great is that!

Democracy vs. Republic – American Governance

Please note: A republican method of governance does not mean everyone belongs to and votes the “Republican Party” ticket.  Nor, does the democratic governance method mean everyone adhering belongs to the “Democratic Party” ticket.  The political party is not the style of governance, and this is the first distinction that must be realized.  No political party deserves your support, unless they espouse, and live, what you want them to espouse and live.  America has had good and poor elected officials from both major political parties.  America has even changed major political parties; and this is a good thing!

The Duty of AmericansToo often people are confusing democracy, democratic governance, and the American Republic.  Talking heads in the media get this wrong all the time.  Hollywood has never gotten the distinction correct, ever.  But, this ignorance might be by design as Hollywood has always been a breeding ground for disinformation, propaganda, and elitist posturing.  Regardless of the political party, or lack of political party, every American citizen should be able to recognize Democracy from Republican styles of governance.  The following uses real events to help distinguish the line.

A democracy, at its most basic level, can be described and defined by the control of an organization by the majority of its members.  A simple majority is all it takes to gain the high ground and punish the loser.  A simple majority is if 100 people gather in a room, they need 51 to agree to support a single idea.  Democracies are full of simple majorities who then try to proclaim a moral high ground, and then attempt to extrapolate the single simple majority into a system of keeping the simple majority.

A republic begins with the philosophy and doctrine that embraces equality between its members as the ideal in governance.  Recognizing that today’s majority is tomorrow’s minority, rules provide equality between people, and all titles are transitory.  A republic is messy; equality in treatment under the law allows for every person to have the same opportunity because their inalienable rights have provided them with eternal potential to become anything they desire.  This is especially true when a person desires through their actions, attitudes, and behaviors, which is not desired by the rest of the society, provided the individual does not break the law.  However, laws are not changed to outlaw behaviors, curb ideas, or infringe upon inalienable rights as laid out and codified in the Bill of Rights.

Lady JusticeFor example, The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) – Office of Inspector General (VA-OIG), recently sent a report regarding an investigation of Peter Shelby, the previous VA Assistant Secretary for Human Resources and Administration (HR&A), who steered a $5 million contract for the benefit of individuals with whom he had a personal relationship.  This is a prime example of democracy in action.  The person in charge had to pay for the simple majority that kept him in power.  Consider the following direct consequences of Mr. Shelby’s actions.

“The contract … included talent assessment services for evaluating whether to hire or promote candidates. When the contract concluded in August 2019, it became evident that VA had purchased services far in excess of what it could use. VA used only 232 of the 17,000 one-year training licenses it purchased for $3.8 million and VA received no value whatsoever for the talent assessment services because required privacy and security certifications were not obtained.”

Mr. Shelby was allowed to resign when he discovered he was about to be fired from Government service.  Thus, he keeps all his retirement, all his Federal benefits, and the money gained from his ill-gotten ventures.  In many countries around the world, these actions are considered, “Realpolitik.”  Realpolitik is politics or diplomacy based primarily on considerations of given circumstances and factors, rather than explicit ideological notions or moral and ethical premises.  In America, Mr. Shelby’s actions are illegal and should have been punished accordingly.

Government Largess 3The American Public has witnessed the same political gamesmanship (realpolitik) in the US House of Representatives, the Senate, and the Presidency, for a long time.  All because, the line between a Republic and a Democracy has been intentionally blurred by those in power, to stay in power.  Never does realpolitik benefit the rule of law, or provide equality as a basic and fundamental position of governance.  Bringing into the conversation the critical quality of genetic behavior and the exponential growth of behavior from one generation to the next.  If Mr. Shelby’s actions can be traced upwards through the behavior of elected officials; how many more unethical behaviors are hiding inside the government workforce waiting for their opportunity to practice realpolitik at the expense of the veterans, taxpayers, and citizenry of America?

Genetic behavioral growth is witnessed when a congressional member is allowed to bend an ethical rule in the name of politics so the simple majority can be sustained.  The next generations are the governors and state legislatures who then replicate and advance that unethical behavior to one that is blatantly illegal, but not “really bad.”  Extramarital affairs, drug use or abuse, alcohol abuse, spouse abuse, homosexuality, etc., are all not “really bad,” laws that are regularly shattered and overlooked to maintain the simple majority.  This then leads employees of governments to act in a looser and more illegal or unethical manner, stealing the public money, misusing government tools and supplies, or in the case of Peter Shelby, forming a relationship and then steering a $5 Million-dollar contract to the entity that most benefits him.

Behavior-ChangeIn a republic, those in power recognize the genetic nature of their behavior, understand that any lapses in good judgment are dangerous, and work to live in a manner that first allows for equality among all.  Even if they must tell another person no.  Consider how much corruption is in Washington, D.C., and every state capital in America, all because the simple majority has lured good people into acting against their principles, against the Republican form of American governance, and against the law established and maintained by the people, for the people, and of the people.  The simple majority will always, to maintain power, refuse to say no, set boundaries, and live by rules and laws.  The republican form of government lives by nothing else but the rules and the laws because equality only occurs under the rule of law.

Notice something important, the first rule of realpolitik is to disconnect the equality of everyone for the power of ruling.  Just as in the book “1984” we see some are more equal than others; which is an extension of democracy.  Then, realpolitik disconnects explicit notions of morality and ethics from actions and behaviors.  Thus, equality is the first casualty in the hostile takeover of democracy.

Consider labor unions for a moment.  Disney produced the movie, “Invincible,” or the story of Vince Papale and the NFL Eagles.  In the movie, there is a union striking, and one sign is made clear, “Striking is DEMOCRACY IN ACTION” [emphasis in original].  The truth in this lie is that strikes are selfish, and represents democracy perfectly.  But, the strike is not democracy in action, the labor union is democracy in action as a legal “pyramid scheme.”  The strike of a labor union, along with all the other work slowdowns, bureaucracies, and other silly games played to thwart republic governance are but tools of democratic leaders to exercise their power.

Religious ThoughtThe labor union spouts a lot of good democratic styled speeches; but acts like thugs, for the benefit of the elected few, at the cost of the dues-paying members.  Proving that democracy is the last thing a labor union wants as the labor union remains a Marxist method of governance.  Take any labor union, anywhere in the world, and you will find the elected officials living large on the backs, sweat, and labor of the dues-paying members.  The fewest of the few long-term dues-paying members will be provided benefits and a lifestyle to be desired, but never obtained, even though the dues have been paid, the labor performed, and the sacrifices made.  The Wall Street Journal has covered the loss of benefits paid for through dues payments, and while the Wall Street Journal does it’s best to keep the union out of the picture, it is not the company’s filing lawsuits, but the unions.

Always, the same principle determines the separation between democracy and republican governance, equality under the law.  The solution is not found in more government programs to “level the playing field,” which is a democratic principle that has never worked!  The solution is found in less government.  Equality under the law is not found in government force; but, in less government potential to exercise that force.  In the 1980s President Reagan was heralded for his nationalizing of the air traffic controllers; thus, ending a strike of the national air traffic controllers.  But, the air traffic controllers still have the same inequalities, same problems, and the same issues as experienced under the air traffic control unions.  Nothing changed fundamentally, and this overreach of government, “for public safety,” has kept the air traffic controller in bondage.  Sure, the cage is nicer, but the cage is still a cage; only now, there is no possible way of escaping the cage.  The same is true of railroad workers, teachers, and so many other employees kept under a labor union’s thumb, or government mandate.

In a democracy, it is perfectly acceptable to maintain the simple majority through nefarious means and ends.  Whereas in a republic, the equality that keeps everyone equally refuses the nefarious types every society produces from having a purchase hold to establish themselves.  Consider the violence that has rocked America since May 2020.  Consider also, all the violence that has shocked and dismayed America since the Watts Riots in 1965.  The Watts Riots are a perfect template reflecting the problems of democracy.

The media, and many people in government including most of the judicial branch, allowed personal anger over issues to become a violent outpouring, where the victim was the community and not the actual target of the violence.  People acted in a selfish manner, with a total lack of self-control, and the community of Watts burned to the ground.  The land is barren, dreams destroyed and lives ruined.  Since the Watts Riots, the community has reached out for more democratic solutions, as if this was not the reason the Watts Riots happened in the first place.  Fast forward from 1965, and every riot since has been glorified for their anger levels, because this helps feed the democratic solutions, keeping people unequal, refusing people their eternal potential, and denying inalienable rights to maintain power and authority.

America, we need to stop the lies that democracy is the “American Way.”  Superman was correct, “Truth and Justice” are the American Way, which is the Republican manner of governance.  America was established upon the fundamental principle that ALL are first equal under the law.  Sure, we have not always lived up to the ideal; but, we are human.  Our humanness is allowing us to falter, not fail.  We fail the great American Republic every time we allow a democratic solution that forces people onto unequal terms.  We stumble, we fall, when we forget that equality is precious and considering all to have the same equality means allowing people to suffer consequences of attitudes and behaviors.

President AdamsWhen one person can be supported in their immorality because of their money (Jackson, Kennedy, Epstein, Clinton, Weinstein, etc.) when others are punished for the same crimes (pedophiles, murderers, thieves, rapists, etc.) we have a democracy.  When all, regardless of money, titles, political power, etc. are held to the same laws and legal standards the great American Republic survives and gains strength.  To rebuild the American Republic, we must first cleanse the inward vessel, removing from public office all those who refuse the blessings and work of a republic for the ease and captivity of a democracy.
